Stock i7 2700k CPU non-oc @ 78-83'C - Help me !!!!

Hi everyone. To quickly describe my rigs, here is some infos.

Here is a link with all my pictures and descriptions

Configuration and airflow

Case : Proudly the Corsair Carbide 500R
Powersupply : Corsair GX 750W (12V@60A)
Motherboard : Intel boxDZ68BC
Processor : Intel i7-2700k Sandy Bridge (3.5 GHz)
Memory : Kingston HyperX DDR3 16GB (1600mhz)
Solide State Drive : Intel 520 Series 240GB
Hard drive : Western Digital Caviar Green 2 TB
Video Card 2013 : 1x Evga GeForce GTX 670 FTW 4GB, alone for the moment

I use stock CPU clocks, a 1600mhz kingston memory profile, and the GTX 670 FTW 4GB is at his stock oc. Pretty standard.

On iddle, my cpu can get between 35 and 50 (idling, web, small stuff). On BF3 @ 1080p @ ultra settings, my CPU is in the 76-83 temperature bracket. My ambient temp is about 20-25 'C

About airflow, i have 2x 120mm front intakes, 1x200 mm side intake, 1x 120mm bottom intake (plus a psu that also intakes). Then, i have an exhaust 120mm on the rear, and a 120mm exhaust on the top. My GPU also has an exhaust-type-of-fan.

Here is a little pic so show my setting.

My actual concern is that i want to fit a aftermarket CPU Cooler on my rig.

So it has fit with :

My case (Carbide 500R) (here is a picture to show you the interior of an unbuild rig)

An inside view of my actual motherboard

A better view of the highprofile ram (see the heatsink) (this is not my case, its just for the photo to see the heatsink).

A nice view of my motherboard in high-res.

Can you help me to figure out, with these pics, which Cpu Cooler i may take, to fit my board and case ? Please, it is heating ohno-smiley02.gif
If you cant make any suggestion , can you just check with me if those would fit ;

Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BL 140mm
ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm
ARCTIC Freezer Xtreme Rev.2

And i heard about some thermalright archon that fits with highprofile ram.

Plz help me.. i would like a new cpu cooler without changing my ram to lowprofile.

Zalman CNPS9900MAX-B will fit.

Phanteks PH-TC14PE cooler maybe, but not the fan. Center of cooler to front of cooler is 68mm. That's what you need to fit TC14PE.

They will all probably fit, but have you thought a H50 or H60 to cool it down?

Do some serious research into Corsair water coolers before you buy one. They have had lots of problems with some models.. H100, H100i, H80, H80i in particular.

Why complicate cooling with more bits to go wrong? There are air systems better than than any of the CLC at this time. And air cooler almost never fail. An occasional fan will start making noise but that's about it. Some call these CLC systems "Wannabe coolers" because some buyers think "water" means better... and it doesn't. Not unless you spends lots more than CLC systems cost.

Agreed, but if you can spend an equal amount of money for equal performance, why would you add a huge block of copper and alluminium into your case, possibly blocking ram

Because it not equal money, not equal quality, not equally dependable, and you just mount a radiator and fan block to case instead on on CPU and have to work around the hoses between CPU and radiator instead.

As for blocking RAM?? RAM doesn't get changed very often if ever.. and then even big coolers usally clear the ram. Both my TC14PE and SA SB-E are no problem to change ram.. and I have 6 ram slots having to use closest to CPU. And even if it did require removing cooler I can remove and reinstall the coolers easy in 5 minutes.

Now if you spend twice what the best air coolers cost you are at entry level of quality water cooling and get similar performance or a little better and same silence of good air.

Air will last 5-10 years no problem Fans are the only thing to wear out.

Water pumps might not make it 2 years.. new Corsair coolers are failing in 1 month.

If a fan fails you can stick any fan on to keep system running.

If pump fails you are dead and SOL, No possible bandage to keep you going while you get a replacement.

Thank you ! I guess i will go with a medium size cooler like that Zalman. I think it has a good look too, that will fits in my case ! Do you know if these are considerated as good to pretty good Coolers ? Reviews seem to go that ways. Well, thank you for you post ! A Huge help ! thumb.gif

If i were going for an H solution, i would probably take the Corsair H100 to fit on the top on my Carbide 500R. Though, i think they have a propability that there is some pump problem, some leaks, etc. Just to be peace in mind, i will stick with air coolers and fans. Tho, i am not an expert and i may be wrong thinking about that negative things that CAN occur, but rarely do. At a point, it may be like someone that fears to take plane because of the crash possibilities.

All in all, i will still keeping Air cooling for the CPU. Maybe i will have the occasion to test some AIO watercooling solution in the future. Thank for your post !smile.gif

I am really on that state of mind.. Just could not put words on it !

edit :

For the blocking RAM thing... I already have 16GB, it is set at 1600mhz, and im not going to touch it until i build a new case in couple of years (and i will unmount everything on my case at that point). So i do not give a **** if the ram is blocked. I just do not want to tweak my cooler to fit beside the ram, because the ram is in the way... But if i can exclude that, i am on a perfect world!
