Hi everyone. To quickly describe my rigs, here is some infos.

Here is a link with all my pictures and descriptions

Configuration and airflow

Case : Proudly the Corsair Carbide 500R
Powersupply : Corsair GX 750W (12V@60A)
Motherboard : Intel boxDZ68BC
Processor : Intel i7-2700k Sandy Bridge (3.5 GHz)
Memory : Kingston HyperX DDR3 16GB (1600mhz)
Solide State Drive : Intel 520 Series 240GB
Hard drive : Western Digital Caviar Green 2 TB
Video Card 2013 : 1x Evga GeForce GTX 670 FTW 4GB, alone for the moment

I use stock CPU clocks, a 1600mhz kingston memory profile, and the GTX 670 FTW 4GB is at his stock oc. Pretty standard.

On iddle, my cpu can get between 35 and 50 (idling, web, small stuff). On BF3 @ 1080p @ ultra settings, my CPU is in the 76-83 temperature bracket. My ambient temp is about 20-25 'C

About airflow, i have 2x 120mm front intakes, 1x200 mm side intake, 1x 120mm bottom intake (plus a psu that also intakes). Then, i have an exhaust 120mm on the rear, and a 120mm exhaust on the top. My GPU also has an exhaust-type-of-fan.

Here is a little pic so show my setting.

My actual concern is that i want to fit a aftermarket CPU Cooler on my rig.

So it has fit with :

My case (Carbide 500R) (here is a picture to show you the interior of an unbuild rig)

An inside view of my actual motherboard

A better view of the highprofile ram (see the heatsink) (this is not my case, its just for the photo to see the heatsink).

A nice view of my motherboard in high-res.

Can you help me to figure out, with these pics, which Cpu Cooler i may take, to fit my board and case ? Please, it is heating ohno-smiley02.gif
If you cant make any suggestion , can you just check with me if those would fit ;

Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BL 140mm
ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm
ARCTIC Freezer Xtreme Rev.2

And i heard about some thermalright archon that fits with highprofile ram.

Plz help me.. i would like a new cpu cooler without changing my ram to lowprofile.

Some questions with my incoming shipments !

Questions..

- About my other 4pin connector (Rear, Front, Aux), how Pwm works ? I mean, if it is not the cpu temperature, what is "analysed" to give pwm signal ?

- How many maximum fans should a cpu_header controls, without an added molex in the Y ? If i only have my 2 Phanteks' fan on my header, is it ok to not add a molex ? I guess so, if they provide us that precise adaptor ! But how many max .. without a molex adaptor ?

- I actually have 2x Noiseblockers Lowrpm 55~ CFM, 120MM PWM (600-1500rpm). One is a bottom intake (on the Aux mobo 4pin) and the other is as an exhaust on top-front (on the Front 4pin). Both PWM. Now with my non-pwm 140MM AP140, i am wondering where to put it... ;

--- Paired with the pwm noiseblocker at the top, on a PWM adaptor (the non-pwm has a noise-reductor adaptor.. but will it fit on my PWM Y ?

--- Put the two noiseblockers (here is the exact link btw) as 2x Exhaust on my top. And the AP140 at the Bottom intake (actually i m not sure i have enough CFM on the intakes.. it may helps)

--- Put the two noiseblockers at the top, the corsair ap140 at the rear (stock carbide 500r 120mm), and put the stock one at the bottom intake...

i am a bit mixed up where to put what, pwm or not, and on what mobo connector.

That sentence make no sense.

I don't understand why you have so many fans

Sorry to have been a mess to understand stun.giffrown.gif !May i try again ? lol.. I am really bad when i do not take the time. Here is my story. redface.gif

Bellow, you will see on the first picture that the top of my case has 2 available fan spots, for ether 120 or 140mm fans. They will be exhausts. The second picture shows the bottom psu fan emplacement. This is gonna be an intake for ether a 120 or 140mm fan. On the same picture, you see my rear stock fan from corsair, which of course is an exhaust. This is not shown, but i have a demciflex filter under the bottom of the tower, for the bottom fan intake, near the psu.

Now, here is the fans that i can change position ;

- 2x 120mm Noiseblocker M12-PS (PWM, 58 CFM, 600-1500 RPM, 120mm, not sure about static pressure, more specs here).
- 1x 140mm Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition (Non-PWM, 67.8 CFM, 1150 RPM, 140mm, 0.8 mm/H2O Static Pressure more specs here.
- 1x 120mm Stock rear exhaust fan from the Corsair Carbide 500R Case. (Non-PWM, 43 CFM, 1200 RPM, 120mm, 1.7 mm/H2O Static Pressure)

I do not know the theories about what is better for doing good intakes and exhausts, etc. So according to your knowledge, where would you put these 4 fans ? Let say, in what position ? (all these positions accepts both 120 and 140mm fans)

Actually, i have a noiseblocker blowing out on the top-front, a noiseblocker that intakes at the bottom, my corsair AP140 is in shipping.

My actual PWM configuration. (Click to show)
1- CPU_Header , which will be my 2x Phanteks fans from that cpu cooler
2- Front, actually this is my top-front noiseblocker exhaust.
3- Aux, actually this is my bottom noiseblocker intake.
4- Rear, my stock exhaust rear fan. (which is 3pin btw).

Much better.

I would not put a fan in front top because it will try to pull the air you want your CPU intake fan pushing into cooler.

Raise your case so you have 45-50mm clearance on the bottom because with 2 fans pulling air in you need it.

Keep your side fan at low to medium speed. Test it at different speeds to see what cools best.

Your other fans you can play with. Experiment with fan speed and placement to see what combination works best for you. It's not the same for everyone.

Am i right to think that as my AP140 will only have 0,8 mm/h20 Static pressure, i am better to put is as an exhaust (i.e on my top) ? rolleyes.gif
