HD7850 good upgrade from CFX HD6870? or go for the HD7950? (other suggestions also allowed) - Page 4

I don't know if anyone else mentioned it, but I believe the 8xxx cards are coming out relatively soon. If you can wait I'd advise grabbing one of those or a 7xxx at a cheaper cost (Prices should drop with the release of 8xxx). Just my opinion since your system doesn't look to be in need of immediate upgrade.

EDIT: op, here are my numbers for bf3 (i've used dozens of times as an example), which you can compare . . .

i7 4.5GHz HT off

my settings in 64 (full) man server Caspian Border using 1080P

if your numbers are similar - do not upgrade. GPU at stock.

even if stock 7950 wont beat 2x 6870s, it will at least eliminate microstutter, allow for massive overclocking and also the option for a killer crossfire upgrade in the future if OP feels nessisary. Especially considering by the time that would happen, the price on these cards will be no more than 200$ i reccon (close enough to that already, and im tempted to get one myself)
