Also, the 8350 here is targetted at the 3570K, so this is a fair comparison. tongue.gif

Rubers and others, its not worth it. It is obvious that the review is messed up, no need to argue with people who only see AMD won, and not look at anything else.

54fps with an 8350, 16fps with a 3570k? lachen.gif

You can argue that AMD is able to keep up for the most part, but this is just ridiculous. These results make no sense.

Hey it looks like you have one of the FX's, would you be so kind to apply that windows hotfix and report back... sorry if this derails the conversation, I'm just curious about this.

Just... take a breath man, is all I'm saying. Your measurement of self-worth shouldn't be tied to a piece of hardware, just take the review as an interesting piece of new information (whether you want to believe it or not) and move on.

It's nice to know that AMD is actually doing okay with its new guys. I think that a huge part of why AMD procs are perceived as being really bad is because they are marketed as being 8 core procs, while are just sorta keeping pace (some of the time, anyway) with Intel quad offerings. I argued that they aren't really quite 8 core CPUs due to the large amount of component sharing that goes on inside each module, back before they were released. JFAMD kinda shot me down lol. I still think it was a bad marketing decision. AMD is not really that bad, aside from the PCI-e lane stuff, and megalithic power consumption.

Don't get me wrong though, AMD is still not close to its Athlon 64 days, and I'm not saying this review doesn't suck either, because it is awful. There is no way in hell that there can be that great of a performance difference, even given the finicky nature of hardware. Even statistically speaking, I think this review is definitely in the minority on game performance. If there was this big of a difference in performance, everyone would be using AMD now (and my 990x board wouldn't be collecting dust in the closet).

EDIT: Hrmmm. Didn't see this stuff about a new driver patch. If it really does make the FX this spectacular, why wasn't more effort put into this before. It would be cool, but forgive my large helping of skepticism.

I just had to reply because you missed the point of the conversation, it wasn't because of the low fps, far cry 3 is a heavy game so of course it is expected, it is the doubled AMD performance which was the point. When I see something wrong, I will go and fix it. That is how it is. And yes I'd also like to see someone else with an FX 8350 to apply the hotfix to see if Far Cry 3 performs the way it does.

This is ridiculous because this actually would lead some people to buy an fx rig (not that they should not as it does have a pretty good price per performance) and as far as single gpu goes it keeps up with the intel counter parts but the far cry 3 results definitely had something wrong with it.

The resutls look like he was running fc3 on IGPU there is not way that a game that is known to be gpu intensive can have such an improvement from using a different processor. I do however like logan as a presenter, he has a strong voice and he is funny too but this is just sad knowing that his reviews are such bs, I don't know whether he was paid or not but this is inexcusable.

P.s The board for the intel test system was such bs, its known to have a gimped firmware and does not oc well either, even if they were to use a mITX board they should have gone the asus route with the P8Z77-I deluxe, that board it known to be the best motherboard in the mITX form-factor, It would have been fair if they used a z77 sabertooth and a 990FX sabertooth that seems more logical but I guess doing that is against the real world as more people go for the z77 stinger XD
post #159 of 310
these benchmarks are stupid, i benched my friends FX 8350 and a 3570k and the results those guys got were nothing like what i got.
the 3570k beats the 8350 in most if not every game, and that farcry 3 benchmark is ridiculous and in no way true.

Another bs argument is to attack the motherboard which makes no sense, seriously where do you get your information guys? A quick google turns up the EVGA Z77 Stinger performing fine: http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Motherboards/EVGA-Z77-Stinger-Motherboard-Review/Gaming-Benchmark-Testing
