But I've already spent all my hard earned money for a gaming system, my computer, and now am just looking for actual GOOD titles that can absorb more than 5 hours of my time! This is what I'm getting at... Final Fantasy X was $50 at launch, but I invested over 150 hours into that game ALONE. Now, Shattered Galaxy, an MMORTS for the PC, I invested around 500 hours of time in, but cost $10 a month to play. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer, I invested around 500 hours, but these titles don't absorb my mind like they used to, no more immersiveness and wish to play frown.gif

I cannot afford buying a console to play the games that I want, and for the PC, I wish they would bring back the old greats like Jagged Alliance 2 (again all of this is opinionative,) matter of fact, the titles that we actually WANT to play! All I see are titles that most of us do not even wish to touch, but we buy them anyways because they are the closest to being the games that we want...

I have too many FREE PC games and not enough time to play them. Good ones. I have over 120 games on steam and less than half of them played, only a small fraction beaten.

How? How did this thread get started?

Edit: Look, go play FTL. It's like $10 right now and if you don't get 20 hours out of it, you're dead inside. That's the basis of PC games right now. Small titles with exemplary quality, MMO's for 100+ hours

I guess many of you didn't read the original post which is cool. I stated that I walked into Gamestop and checked out the more original gameplay titles in the store, but for all the consoles, not for the PC. I realize that Gamestop does not typically sell PC titles boxed any more, as they ALSO have their own online venture to sell downloadable games, which may be news to some here.

On topic: I guess I just have my back bent over farther than backwards because everyone seems to think that the titles we are playing today are worthy of our time. I'm sorry but when you've played the original games that most of these new games have just about stolen the mechanics from, then you would know it's almost worthless to look for new PC games nowadays. It's all about the cash cow, and when it's all about the cash cow, it's not fun for anyone.

sell your rig and move on..

Plenty of great games worthy of my time out right now. your thought process is flawed because console systems and games are cash cows and have no soul!

PC exclusive titles are killing it.

good luck with your nonsense rant. thumb.gif

I suppose it can't be helped frown.gif Possibility that I'm spoiled with all that we used to have, but all I want to do is bring the good times back and not worry about this influx of games that have no soul, that seep into the cracks of your imagination and steal the good thoughts that you have and implement them into more private versions of titles that may never make it to the actual consumers that pay from their hard earned stash of money to enjoy less than 5 hours of actual good gameplay per title.

Does anyone even understand what quality means? What happened to the days of REAL rule sets that were actually RANDOMLY generated much alike the roll of dice instead of this put you on a rail and give you no thought process but to blast everything that is in front of you? It seems to be the only allowable game entry into the PC game market nowadays, at least it's all that I see with my eyes, as a lot of you posting in this thread disagree with what I'm talking about.

I want games that actually allow me to utilize my imagination instead of TELL me what to do! Imagination is the key factor to my decision in buying games, but I don't even see anything worthy of my imagination now frown.gif Sadly, with the way that this thread is going, I'm going to have to live with this for a very long time

I realize the money is not there, but it's like computer gamers have given up, and said to heck with PC's, we're all moving on now...

Atari and NES made video gaming popular. Computers may have been the first systems to have games, however everyone easily forgets that consoles made video games what they are today. Consoles dont get as bad as a rep as computer games even though the games are mostly the same. They also generate more revenue over computer games, its easier for a parent to shell out $350 for a system that good for 5 years and then $50+ for a game every 2-3 months. PC Gaming isnt dead by any means its just kind of stalled out for the computer enthusiast, games are becoming more cross platform and we see less and less PC only titles that are meant to strain our systems. We can also see that current gen consoles arnt really far and next gen consoles will be closing a part of the gap technologically. The gap is still there as I havnt seen any console out due my dual gtx 580's but I will say God of War 3 looked pretty damn phenomenal.

I agree with this post, but how is it that our computers are vastly more expensive but we end up getting the shaft? I mean, the typical gaming computer is like a quad-core processor with the equivalent of a GTX 580 or ATi 5870/6850, all of which cost us dearly money out of our pockets, yet we see the same as a $300 console? I just don't get how the gaming market is making us computer gamers pay even MORE year by year! It's ridiculous and cruel how much money us PC gamers have to pay to enjoy the same if not WORSE than the consoles! But you are right, consoles I think brought gaming abroad around the globe, which in its own right is a great achievement. Needless to say, I just wish us PC gamers got more attention then some spiffy graphics options which, like you say, PS3 games like God of War 3, have about as good of graphics, if not better... But it just doesn't make sense..

This is why it's good to own all consoles/pc.

the days of your style of gaming are very thin. We are in the dudebro era right now. Very few games out now actually require you to play. It's part of why I LOVED zombiu so much on the wii u because it is becoming a rarity. That being said the indie scene/hardcore pc scene is still around it's just not popular.

and yeah our machines cost thousands, but publishers could give two craps less when they have 1 or 2 or 3 consoles to dev for instead of 100million pc combinations. It's easier and the audience is so much bigger.

we have to deal with it, but pc is still dominant and always will be because of the exclusives and "prettyness"
