I'm afraid of that too but I commend them on looking out for their own interests, which is what the US did but the the US proceeded to let it turn into shambles where it's allowed some places but not others or has heavy restrictions etc.....

Somehow I don't think it will turn out that great for anyone tbh.

Just gives the American government more ammo to try and get things like SOPA passed.

I can see it now... The U.S. government finds weapons of mass destruction on the island of Antigua.
Makes me happy!

Can restrict inside their own borders but how much of the rest of the world will jump on their bandwagon?

US came into New Zealand and raided Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom, and now this, might end up that the world will join the bandwagon.

All depends on how much pressure the US puts on other countries who grumble. I seriously doubt any country wants to get into a battle over protecting Intellectual Property ... at least any county of any real size.

For example (and this is just a COMPLETE hypothetical): Let's say Great Britain grumbles over this, all the US would have to do is say "Fine, no more foreign aid to you and we won't prosecute our citizens if they start ripping off your patents, etc."

It all depends on how far the politicians want to push things, which is directly tied to just how much of a snit this little country throws.

I mean they already host a number of pirate companies there already, for example Slysoft, so it all depends on how over the top they want to take this as to how over the top the US will respond to protect their multi-billion dollar a year industry.

Exactly. I really wish my government would leave people alone. The last thing we need are more federal idiots trying to figure out how spending more money will solve this problem.
