Big thanks to my pals at Asrock Taiwan for rushing over this preview sample to me yesterday, before the CNY holiday festivities and long break kicks in.

Asrock FM2A85X-ITX
A85 chipset, 7 SATA ports, 4+2 phase power with heatsinks, dual-Stack MOSFET, premium caps... is this the ultimate FM2 ITX mobo to lust for? biggrin.gif

This is good news! Hopefully no VRM issues like the A75 version. I Also noticed that ASrock has thin-mini-ITX intel boards now too! Now I really can't decide what to do for my next build smile.gif

Thanks for the info

So, like a week.

Could you possibly do some heat checks on the VRMs while it is overclocked or confirm that the overheating issues have been fixed?

I used a cheap infra red gun to read the temps off the mosfet/Southbridge heatsinks while in the BIOS and while transcoding, the max reached was 35C, ambient 25C.

Think Asrock is cornering the FM2 ITX market?

I thought the main reason for A85X was a second PCIE slot? (there's usually not enough room to make use of the extra SATA ports)

The fact that A85X hardware-wise is geared towards OCing and enthusiasts is more or less market segmentation (Kind of like 990FX vs 990X)

I feel exactly the same way. If you went with the H77-i, what heatsink would you use? I hate how there are circuits on the back that basically makes any backplate impossible to install.
