Asrock FM2A85X-ITX - the ultimate FM2 ITX mobo to lust for? - Page 15

So I believe it was the IMC phase whose chip got burnt in those sad FM2A75M-ITX motherboards, therefore having used lower wattage RAM *might* have made some difference.

Thx

If this is correct the whole FM2A75itx thing is even more hilarious, since it states DDR3 2600+ next to the dimms, suggesting that at least the power design for the memories should have gotten some attention..
I thought they burned because the power design to the APU was lacking, and in bios the GPU and CPU goes at full clock overloading the MB..

This is probably correct, that why they release revision 2.0 of the FM2A75M-ITX, stating that the memory support is up to 1866

Yea, check the "VRMs on certain platforms" of "About VRMs & MOSFETs / Motherboard Safety with high-TDP processors"

Compatibility with non-graphics card in PCI-e slot...

ASRock FM2A85X-ITX... works well with a LSI SAS 9212-4i4e... a lot of consumer motherboards do not support HBA / Raid controllers, which are normally for server platforms.

Dear all,

sorry for the double post, but I am in a sort of urgency, so the more feedback I get, the easier I can make a decision.

I was looking into, since quite some time, buying a uATX board.
Now I am in a real, urgent need, as my laptop fried up (spilled half a cup of water on the keyboard...I guess I just went over the limit of liquid that the keyboard of my laptop can hold... frown.gif )

CPU-wise I am quite pending for the AMD A0-5800K, so the choice for the mobo would be this AsRock FM2A85X

but on the other hand, I got to realise that in these last year the performance and features of the mobo plays a VERY much important role.

Indeed, if I were to go for the Intel solution, I would buy the Asus P8-H77.

Thus, how do these two motherboards compare two each other, features-wise, ability to DOWNclock, stability and so?

I hope to get a couple of feedback so I can start placing orders for a uATX system, as I really can't be without computer in these days..

thank you!

I want to buy one of these and a Richland chip, hopefully it'll get far enough to be able to update the bios. What are the chances of that working out? Or will I need to scare up a Trinity chip.

R2.0 of FM2A75M-ITX on ASRock page .. lol ??

How many years warranty does the FM2A85X-ITX have from ASRock (warranty of retail stores may vary)?

Is it better to use 2 4GB sticks of RAM or is one 8GB working solo ok to use?
