Asrock FM2A85X-ITX - the ultimate FM2 ITX mobo to lust for? - Page 19

I personally haven't had any of the burn out issues that plague the mini ITX A75 boards, but I have had plenty of random crashes many of which could be contributed to maybe badly matched memory or underclocking/volting but even with completely defaulted and updated BIOS settings I had crashes pretty regularely. I did just have a failure resulting in the motherboard not recognizing the SSD anywhere but in the boot menu. No booting into a fresh install of Windows 7, no reinstalling with disk because it doesn't see the drive.

It's like a broken record in here.

Quick update. I've got the SSD up and running just fine on my main HTPC FM2 mATX system. No issues what-so-ever aside from two crashes most likely due to the massive amount of Windows Updates (Fresh Win7 build started right before the MB failure) going at the time. No problems since. Looks like the SATA controller on the board is fried which means I've got a $100 paperweight. At this point I'm just going to have to eat the cost in the interest of keeping my friends feelings on this project semi positive and go ahead and pickup some Haswell goodness in a couple weeks.
Gotta find something usefull to do with the CPU and multiple coolers I've accumulated for this build. Maybe a secondary HTPC or desktop for a family member?

What after market coolers are you guys using?

See my sig below for my build (HTPC/SteamBox), but I had to do a little modding to get the Noc to fit. Thinking about changing it since I cant get "great" contact between APU IHS and the NOC heat stink.

Good stuff.

Overall, this one is much better than my 3 Trinity APU samples (2 x 5800K, 1 x 5600K). smile.gif.

Figures, had my Trinity build for an entire few months thanks to the Asrock mITX fiasco and now Richland is coming out.
I'll wait to see if the next chip (what is it steam forklift?) will be FM2 compatible then maybe pick up Richland if it isn't.

So far I've run a CM GeminII M4 on my A10-5800K, the stock cooler, and a SilverStone NT07-AM2 on my friends A8-5500. I also have a Gelid Slim Silence A-Plus That I was planning on installing to make some room for a 2TB 3.5" drive, but the SATA controller on my board crapped out first.
