are these normal temps for a i7 3930k under h80i?

basically, i get 45-50c at idle, and during runs of Cinebench 11.5, it goes up to 75c, but that's ok if the TJ max is 91c anyway?

ambient temp is 24c, by the way.

it's at 4.6 Ghz with Vcore of 1.45 that droops down to 1.425-1.416.

Yep, actually pretty good considering the voltage and cooler.

well i would like to get a full custom water cooling kit for thos 6 core beast. I dont know if the 3930k is like the other with crap tim on them. But it looks good also do you got th stock fan on the rad ?

I would adsum that the 3930k is like 920/930 power hog. so i would go for a better cooling for higher speeds. But @ 75 degs dont worry my 920 (old to buddy ) still @ 75 deg on mega @ 4ghz 1st 920 microcenter had(well 1st day).

hmm, the ivy bridge quads are the ones with the crappy paste, btw.

And for a hexacore at such voltage, i think its good, just wondering what others got temp-wise. yes, the stock fan is on the rad.

75C is pretty warm for Cinebench.

And 1.416v load is higher than most need for 4.6GHz.

its not the "crappy" tim, its the distance between the die and ihs thats causing ivy's to run hot smile.gif

it's at 4.6 Ghz with Vcore of 1.45 that droops down to 1.425-1.416.

Your VCore is way too high. I get about the same temps as you on my dual 120mm fan air cooler on my 3930K @ 4.6GHz; maybe a little cooler with my typical high core temp on a fully loaded CPU at about 70 °C. My VCore is at 1.35 and runs reliably fully loaded. I'd try not to push it higher than 1.4 for a 24/7 OC, if I were you.

If you can't keep a stable loaded CPU clock of 4.6GHZ at 1.4 VCore (which you should definitely be able to do, provided you haven't burnt it out too much already), then lower your clock; don't raise your VCore. It's your CPU though, and if you don't keep it fully loaded 24/7 like I do, then you're maybe not going to burn it out too quickly. But still, it isn't the best for the CPU's life expectancy.

VCore is not the load, it's the voltage. Lets try and keep the terminology correct here so we don't confuse people even more. thumb.gif

Dunno, the temps were good for 1.45, ill see if it's stable under 1.416.

Did you walk your way up to 4.6GHz @ 1.45v? Or was that your baseline? If that was your baseline you should definitely try to lower the voltage in small increments until you are no longer stable. I prefer to use Prime95 and IBT.

That way you'll have a nice, cool running, oc. biggrin.gif

Hmm, I tried 1.375v first, windows BSODDED, then 1.45v is fine, so somewhere in between will work.
