Bad chip, below average chip , or am I doing something wrong

I couldn't get 4.4ghz stable on anything under 1.31 so I reverted to 1.27 4.3ghz. Temps are 66c and under. maybe I just don't have a great chip? 4.4 ghz runs good for 5 minute of prime but that prime crashes and everything goes to ****. My motherboard is ud3h
LLC : Turbo Vcore : 1.27v

Multiplier : 43x

Base Clock : 100.00mhz

Power saving features : Disabled

Turbo Boost : Disabled

PLL : 1.75 ( haven't tried Lower )

Temps : Pime95 = 66c Max

600W Antec PSU

680 SC +

i5 3570k

Z77 Gigabyte UD3H

8Gb 1333 DDR3 Kingston Ram

212+ Coolermaster

Update : Is my Voltage suppose to stay constant? I used to use offsets but my voltages were to high under load so I'm not used to this.

UPDATE: Started using offsets again, got it to hit 1.265 peak under load @4.3ghz, is this better? Should I keep trying?

Maybe its a bad chip, but heres what I have, for comparison

you should only need about 1.25-1.3 volts methinks

I have a sandy bridge i7 2600, and even though its locked i can easily clock it at 4.4Ghz like this:

multiplier 39, with turbo at 42,41,40,39 and my bus at 105Mhz.

My corsair ram is running 2240Mhz, and I got my timing down to 9,10,10,27.

After that I stopped trying to go further, but right now my Max vcore is 1.28, and temps arent getting above 150F

this is all on a UD3P board

Hope thats helpful

OP, please dont go mad with adjusting the FSB, it modifies under things to and may damage your RAM and GFX card along with other things if you adjust it too much, SB or IB are not very good friends with the FSB (aka BCLK)

yea, i used it too, when i started ocing..learned alot from it smile.gif

what where your temps when you ran 4.4ghz?
you dont want to go much higher then the 1.31V vcore you used on the 4.4ghz or ?
looks to me your temps are still good, so you should still have some headroom there,
same with the vcore you might need to make 4.4ghz run ..

edit

yea, Pedroc1999 is right, or dont use blck, just leave it at 100 set by hand,
a little blck like 101-102 you can do, i ran 101 blck a long time without issues, but i have it on 100 again now ..
it stresses other components on the mobo too..

RE: Bad chip, below average chip , or am I doing something wrong

I needed 1,35v on my sabertooth z77 board for 4.2Ghz. Now on my msi z77a-gd65 i only need 1.23v for 4.3. It doesn't Always need to be The CPU.

Very true, the motherboard is a critical aspect in overclocking. The overclockability for a CPU is 60% CPU and 40% motherboard. Try OCing a CPU on a ITX board! tongue.gif The Sabertooth isn't a bad board though and it has performed within the price range. Did you try tinkering with the BIOS settings to optimize it? I have the Maximus V Gene which is a mATX board and I was able to reach 5.0 easily. Running 4.8 @ 1.264vcore too.
