[PC Gamer] Blizzard: “We acknowledge Diablo III needs to be a better game” - Page 14

All I can say is that Blizzard has seemingly fired everyone not working on WoW.

Making a game that was skill tree based into a random mishmash of stuff you can do once you are the right level... Really?

Borderlands is a better sequel to Diablo 2 than Diablo 3.

I had 3 extremely good PVP characters, a fully decked out beat+ebotd tele ww barb, a nasty 200% fcr light sorc, and a not-as-great nado druid.

All of which I built by trading and steadily gaining profit off of previous trades and of course some farming once I had the gear for it.

The D3 AH - even it didn't have the "real money" part- ruined the game. NO ONE trades. NO ONE talks communicates... at least nothing like we had in D2.

Ebotd sucked for PVP, also.. what about charms? in order to get any decent charms you needed to use JSP because thats where all the RARE items were. You said you traded and traded in game (yes I did that too and so did a lot) but there were items that just simply was IMPOSSIBLE to get through in game trading because it was worth so much. I'm not sticking up for Diablo 3 it sucks I'm just saying most of anyone who was good at Diablo 2 pvp used an auction house/pay for your item type setting.

They just realized that everybody where going for the same cookie cutter build with the exact same skill distribution, so they get rid of trees and allowed us just to get to the skill we want part.

While tree looks cool and is considered a deep mechanic, in truth everyone who want to be the best always goes to mathematically proven build down to a point. Those who want to try something different will have different skill allocation, but it's not like they can't chose worse skills now just to be different. The rest who put skill into cool things don't care either way, cause they obviously don't try to max their character.

I've played WoW for almost 6 years and yes build where always almost down to a single point, so what's the point?

The skill tree was only useless to min/max players. Some people built characters with different skill trees to have more diversity and more approaches to an already played and mastered game.

That's where alot of replay ability was in Diablo 2. Beat it with your cookie cutter build (or PVP build), and then do it with an off the wall build next time through for a challenge.

Diablo 3 also gives you no incentive to make more than one of each class unless you just want the achievement.

Cookie cutter builds exist for botters and people with little to no imagination or for those who simply wanted to farm for BiS gear. The difference between the 2 games is that there were tons of viable builds that could clear Hell fairly easily that were not your typical Ice/Lightning Sorc builds or Hammerdin builds. Runewords also encouraged cross skill builds as well. There is also a sense of pride when you roll a character, raise it up to a respectable level, and mold it to the build you had in mind. Sure sometimes you can screw up and find out it just doesn't work and sure, it sucks when that happens. The thing was, most skills were good enough that usually the build did work. I had 4 Paladins one time because I had 4 paladin builds. I had a Smiter for ubers, a Zealot for lulz, an Avenger for lulz, and a Hammerdin without Enigma. I also had a Trap Assassin and a Javazon. It wasn't until they nerfed Inferno to the ground did various other builds become possible and again, this is not because the skills were any good, but rather the game has become far too easy.

pretty much what i think. i'd rather spend time grinding for other builds than rerolling classes. normal-hell are just too boring

I should've known though, THE MOMENT I heard about the RMAH, I knew it was going to be a terrible game. It shouldn't even have an AH.
Not to mention how terrible WoW is, and now they just reverted a bunch of needed nerfs that FOR ONCE would've been good for the game.

To be honest, I really advice everyone to not use any more money on Blizzard games. They already trashed their rep with D3 and Cataclysm/MoP, it's just a matter of time before their games stops selling. WoW will die out eventually, and after that they've got nothing.
I have been playing WoW since Vanilla and I think that MoP is one of the best expansions. Yes I dislike the new spec system but overall it's very nice. Blizzard is just giving what people want. People wanted this RMAH and what did they do? They listened and know you're blaming blizzard for what the people want? Sounds like America alright. Well you can trash WoW and Diablo all you want I don't think they are bad games. Yea D3 has a lot....I mean a lot.... Of grinding it was all worth it when a payment of $100 game from some random nerd. Now SC2 is an amazing game so I will waste my money on blizzard I believe they are a great company. I dunno. I don't play
D3 any more it's kinda blah after you hit 60. WoW has a way better replay value then it. SC2 is amazing hands down. But I always seem to play all three eventually. I really like MoP I don't know why. I played Cata for about 1 month then got bored but iv been playing
MoP since release and have not been bored of it. I played D3 for a month and
Got bored of it hopefully Blizzard will
Listen again and realize that they need to change the way they are looking at this game. It should have been one of the best games ever made but it wasn't people make mistakes. I just don't like how you used WoW saying it hurt their rep when with all honesty it didn't. Ya maybe people left but
More people came during MoP. I mean WoW is one of the most selling game and it's been out for 8 years. Please tell me a game that has such a big fanbase and has been out for 8 years.

Exactly. My enchantress with zeal was great and surprised people in duels when an enchantress came up and started zealing them lol! Was also fun playing for the challenge too. I also remember my chippadin with max fire aura. I had a smited for Dclone and for ubers, a blizz sorc for MFing, a hammerdin, a bear druid ...list goes on. In diablo 3, I try hard to use different skills, but they are no more fun than a cookie cutter and serves no special purpose.

Once I make a wizard, that's it...there is no reason to make another. With the RMAH, it encourages you to go with the best skills to kill faster with hopes of getting that $250 item.
