on topic: the game definitely needed some polish in places. but overall it was good fun. I recently started playing again, to switch gears from BL2, and it has been a blast. started a few new characters and am still impressed in the detail put into each different character. I put stupid amount of hours into d2 and its just cool some of the stuff they did with this game when you are used to the previous one. I am looking forward to the expansion, and definitely don't regret paying full price for the game.

You actually do need to do the rmah. Sorry. Once you hit the higher levels, the amount of grinding to get gear to continue becomes insane. They are forcing you to grind because they had to create ultra rares. Those rares are needed to max out the characters. For example. If you are playing with only 4 people at a time and have no auction house, a drop rate of 1/10,000 is pretty rare. But if you have 1 million people, the market is now 10,000 of that item for sale at any given time. So you have to up the odd of that drop to 1 in 1 million, now you have 4 of them available at any given time. Now the only real way to get that item is to bid for it on the auction house because there is really no chance to get that item with only 4 people, 1 million kills is pretty insane for a maybe.

The more people you have grinding and sharing items, the lower the drop rate for that item is. After a while, you must buy the rare drops that are need to finish the game with a good character or just no finish the game. In the past, diablo 2, there was an auction house, but they did not interfere with the drop rates that much. You could, with in a reasonable amount of time, get any rare you want. In diablo 3, it is nearly impossible.

PS, I have not play the game in months, since about 2 months after they released it. It was a waste of time and space. But atleast I will never want to buy another blizzard project. If that game was ok to release like that, then they have nothing I want.

I haven't touched the RMAH at all ( for buying ), every character to Level 60 and beaten Inferno.

Also don't mistake the GOLD Auction House with the Real Money Auction House. The Gold Auction House is a godsend when it comes to selling items. Not only is gold finally worth something unlike in D2 where it was useless aside from buying potions, you don't have to sit in a game for hours on end hopping someone will come buy your HR's or runewords, or spend hours looking for specific gear. Nor do you have to rely on forums such as D2jsp or others.

I guess you could do the gold thing. I did not really play it, in fact I think most of the auction house was not really released by the time I quit playing. But to be honest, the game is self fulling destruction. You have to be online to have an offical auction house. Since there is an auction house, you need to be online. Since you have to be online for the auction house, the game then forces you to use the auction house, because a low drop rate will destroy the point of having an auction house. But once again, I never knew there was an auction house for diablo2 until years after I stopped playing it. They set up the auction house, either one, forced everyone to be online to protect the house, then increase the drop rate forcing everyone to use the house.

I hate the MP in Diablo 3 simply because i loved the lobby style of D2... Search a game and join in, unless this changed in the months that i haven't been playing it.
But i hated that it would just auto find me a game and join, really hated it.

Just play normally, throw your low level items into the gold auction house for cheap, log off for the night, wake up, item sold. Every little bit helps and makes things easier. After you get 500k Gold or so ( I think my first run through this was around level 30 or bouts ) you can buy some relatively decent gear to get 60k-80k DPS and decent HP by level 55-60 with ease which is more than plenty to get you through inferno, by which you'll of likely gotten more drops. Each of my chars averaged about 10M gold going from 1-60, let alone farming afterwards, after quite a bit of paragon leveling gold drops become quite nice and you can easily get 20+ unique/legendary items each day and sell them for decent amount of gold, or if it's good enough to throw into the RMAH you can make a few dollars (or more). As well you can even sell your gold on the RMAH, and while it doesn't always do too good, it's still more money in your pocket and if you're farming properly then you should have more than plenty extra.

I even played through all of the threats of banning of Linux users and never got banned. Was almost disappointed really, it would of been a good shake up.

Farming afterall though, is basically all Diablo has ever really been about. Once you had appropriate gear in D2, PVP became a joke, be it hammerdin, smiter, fire wizard, or bowzon/spearzon you could 1 hit the majority of the players aside from others with similar equipment, granted you/they had the hp to survive. I got to a point in D2 where all my chars had the best possible gear side from a few stats here and there on runewords/charms that I would get bored and go ruin baal / diablo / cow runs by agro'ing everyone and going to kill them, or simply be faster at tele'ing and beat the boss before them. Or rushing people all day ( farming in a sense ).

While the story was apart of Diablo 2, after 1 play through it becomes irrelevant. And is just skipped by most people from then on out. Same for 3, after you beat it once the story becomes nothing more than an interference to slow you down between regions. Some games/series the story can matter and even change each play through, diablo isn't one of those. So really the story shouldn't be on anyones hate list, at least not hardcore diablo players.

The initial server problems, again, should have been anticipated. They outsold their initial estimate by like 6*, and people wonder why the servers weren't ready? :| And then of course it was a new game so one can only expect bugs and patches for those bugs, most games go through similar problems and patching. At least, most do, especially when it comes to online games.

This is really my only complaint. I loved the lobby too, being able to join any channels, create your own and even have a Stealthbot moderate it like any ol IRC channel and to see everyones chars, lol.

I'll be honest, for the first 2 play throughs i had a lot of fun with the Witch Doctor, i got up to level 55 i think, maybe a 3rd play through, i cannot remember.
As soon as i started with the Demon Hunter, things started to feel boring.

I have since uninstalled it as SSD space is precious.
D2 i never had this problem. Still spent many hours and hours playing my high level chars up until D3 came out.

People really need to get over the RMAH, It doesn't effect your gameplay, it doesn't effect the game, it's just there, If you don't like it don't use it but seriously quit your bickering over it.
