Old news? It's still happening. I loved the 7950 because the performance per dollar was unmatchable sometimes but holy crap when you can't use the card what use is the value?

Glad they fixed it but it looks like they lost some FPS in some games as predicted. I definitely don't regret moving from my 7 series cards over to nvida now.

According to benchmarks it really only lost fps ingw2. Gotta love how you nvidia fanboy use every oppertunity to bash and. Denial living kid

How come i never got it? I have HD 7970 so they are probably better build but that look more like a hardware memory problem.

Except when I had my 660ti I didn't have that problem. "Better Built" shouldn't matter, at the end of the day the results show for themselves.

It is for sure a software problem as a few versions of the CCC drivers gave me the exact problem and it was horrible, but every driver before them and after them have been completely fine. AMD has LOTS of software issues to deal with and we need to concentrate on letting them know about the problems that people have instead of just saying, "well I don't it so it must be ok" - that is not going to help anyone.

Pot meet kettle. At least he can make a post without being insulting and rude.

The link I posted that started this thread shows 13.1 lost ground compared to 12.11 in no less than 3 games. A 4th game lost .5 fps but that's too small a margin to count.

Not only that but the only game that truly showed marked improvement in Ocaholic's test suite was Battlefield 3.

+repped

This is the exact reason why it took New Vegas almost a year to be patched. Because well documented problems were being shoveled under the bus because of fanboys screaming "I don't have it, it isn't true, it's just you, etc" is WHY you have years old problems still existing. Because if they don't see a problem and it seems to be on a case by case basis then there is no reason to do it. It's cost them marketshare and you'd think that would be a good enough reason to do it already.

You both have 7950 so it could be something to do with that. Nobody is forcing driver updates. A lot of Nvidia user stick to older driver when they have problem with new one. Common religion over there. ATI user must update every time and start blaming. Also you cant expect to buy something like a HD 7950 use it for 6 months and then change to Nvidia. What you are getting with Nvidia is 6 moths of already prepared driver which you did not exp any of the problems prior to it. I got my HD 6990 8 month after it came out. People before me where going mad about driver. When i got it was fine because much had changed.

Anyhow, we’ll jump into the full architectural details of GK104 in a bit, but let’s quickly talk about the specs first. Unlike Fermi or AMD’s GCN, Kepler is not a brand new architecture. To be sure there are some very important changes, but at a high level the workings of Kepler have not significantly changed compared to Fermi. With Kepler what we’re ultimately looking at is a die shrunk distillation of Fermi, and in the case of GK104 that’s specifically a distillation of GF114 rather than GF110.

Looks like I am the one laughing, at you and your ignorance.
