New Desk Ideas

I need a new desk/table. My problem is I am 6'4. I do not know if I need a higher platform or a lower one. I needs to be long enough to hold 3 monitors. Suggestions?

I would suggest a corner desk at the least so you have more room for your legs when you want to lay out in your chair.

This might help!

Wife is about to graduate as a PT.. Always nagging me about how I sit hunched etc. Problem is Im pretty tall (not as tall as you) and my desk is short so Im always leaning it over and making it worse. One day I shall build a desk!

Ikea Galant is great choice. However, if you're like me you don't live anywhere near an Ikea and shipping on a Galant is nearly $350. I ended up building a door desk for my eyefinity set up. It's solid, no bowing in the middle at all and can hold a ton of weight. It's nearly 7 feet long, so unless you have 3x30" monitors, it'll be enough. As a diy project you can make it as high or low as you want. Total cost is $100-200 depending on how spartan or snazy you want it too look. Can be built with only a power drill since most hardware stores offer a complementary cutting service.

Hi,

What about something like this:
http://www.think-furniture.com/vitra-archimeda-table/

its adjustable and goes quite high. If your short for room maybe monitor arm like the M2 (which I have at home)

How handy are you with a table saw? I'm going to be building something similar to this out of Galant parts, Varde countertops, and furniture grade PVC:

It's an older mockup, but basically it has dimensions fairly similar, albeit wider, to the old Ikea Fredrik desks that have been discontinued.

These are really easy to make with some lumber and high strength PVC or even steel plumbing pipes.

I'm thinking about getting one of these for my tripple monitor set up:
http://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Monitor-Desktop-Supports-002-0019/dp/B006JG7G2E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1360357754&sr=8-3&keywords=triple+monitor+stand
mostly i want this because the stands my monitors came with can't do portrait, but this thing looks like it has 7-8" of adjustable height.

I'm a bit biased, but I think DIY is the way to go with a gaming desk. You get exactly what you want, usually for half the cost. What difference does a little be more work make after spending all that time tinkering with the PC components and tower modding?

I just put a solid birch door blank (50 bucks from home depot) on 2 sawhorses (about 30 bucks for the pair, also from the Depot). Sanded, stained, sealed, and it looks nice, imho.

For the monitor stands, you could just get some matching birch lumber pieces and rest them on some pvc cylinders.
