Whats up with all the bad Newegg reviews?

On Asus, Gigabyte, Msi, Asrock etc boards!
DOA, coil whine, faulty, Code 15?, fan header not working, bad UEFI, bent pins...
What are the chances if I were to buy those motherboards?
So far my MSI Z77A-GD55 is fine, but still...

Thousands of people buy the products. Very few people write reviews. People are more inclined to write a bad review out of frustration than a good review on the product. Human nature. Just take reviews as more of a very loose guideline. Look for professional reviews on the major tech sites.

Yep.

I wish these sites offered a sort of rep system or something that lets you see the purchase date along with the review date to see how long they have owned the product. Personally I trust amazon reviews over most newegg reviews.

A NIB mobo can be faulty, it isn't common but it happens.
Many are quick to post a bad review on Newegg when things don't work, far fewer give a good review when they're busy playing with new toys.
Never hurts to check them, but can't just completely rely on the newegg reviews.

This used to scare me off too until I realized almost all motherboards have a large amount of bad reviews. I've only owned ASRock boards, but I've owned several and never had a problem with them. Based off of Newegg's reviews I should expect my computer to not even boot with one of their products, but that's not the case. ASRock's software on the other hand...yeah that deserves some bad reviews.

Newegg has had some issues with motherboards that arrive with bent pins, which is why I prefer to buy my motherboards in person, where I can check the pin integrity. Canada computers has a policy where they have to show you the pins and have you sign a thing saying that the pins were in tact when you bought it. Some people are also idiots and destroy the pins and want a replacement, which no one will provide.

Also, a ton of the people who review things were people angry about things that went wrong with the product; if the motherboard is DOA, then don't listen to the review; DOA products are just really unlucky.

What you should listen to are people saying that there are issues with overclocking, general stability and any kind of issue that the manufacturer refuses to RMA. Those ones can indicate actual problems with the part, if there are a lot of them.
