Its very simple. the HD 7900 cards are the true successors to the HD 6900 cards. they are really good upgrades. huge performance improvements. the HD 7870 is 25% faster than HD 6950. i would not advise a upgrade which does not get you to 60 - 70% better . The HD 7950 boost is 60% faster than HD 6950 (63 x 1.6 = 100.8) . what is the point in going through the trouble of selling the old card and spending extra money to get a new card which can't give you atleast 50+ % performance improvements ? think and decide

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/HIS/HD_7950_X2_Boost/28.html

HD 6950 - 63
HD 6970 - 71
HD 7870 - 80
HD 7950 iceq x2 boost - 100

raghu78, states a very reasonable point. @ 1600 x 900, 1GB is more than enough for that resolution. It would be different if you're already using a 1920 x 1080 display & you were on a budget. I was just currently using an unlocked 6950 2GB & I was looking forward to a gpu upgrade without spending more than $315 & looking forward to go back to Nvidia. For the moment, I could not get myself to buy a 660Ti 2GB cuz the performance increase was not convincing enough. But when I saw the results from the Galaxy GTX 660Ti 3Gb & how close it competes with the 7950 Boost, it was definitely worth the extra $15 to go back to the green side.

At the end of the day, you're fine with that 6950 1Gb for that 1600 x 900. Just sit tight & let Crysis 3 and those other future games determine your path wink.gif
