Thread Starter

Several of the major gaming mice brands never equip their mice with side tilt scroll wheels, so I'd like to question why. I've never once had an unintentional side tilt button activation, and I can't find anyone who has by asking around. So, is the issue cost? or do some people really have a problem with the functionality? Sometimes when I'm using a mouse without side tilt I wish it was available, I feel like I'm being needlessly cheated out of extra buttons to assign to tertiary functions.

Less is more.

The only use I find for side tilting is horizontal scrolling through web pages or images; in games it's not accessible enough to be useful in my experience. More buttons = more electronics and moving parts crammed together = greater chance of a malfunction, so unless it's vital for that mouse, better leave it out I say.

O used to like the idea of it (before I tried one), but in reality it makes the wheel a lot more wobbly and imprecise when using the "button3" and normal scrolling.
Side scrolling was also only moderately useful while using image editing softwares once or twice... So, for me it doesn't worth it, and like Artifact said, it's always another concern regarding reliability and wear over time.

Maybe some people may find the button functions useful in certain games like MMOs, but there are also MMO specific mice out there that can do a better job at it.
Overall I think it's more of another marketing feature to promote certain mice out there... just like the ridiculously high levels of dpi.

I want my mice to be as straight forward as possible, as little extra as possible.
