Asus 27in Monitor vs Samsung 27in Monitor

Hello everyone. I have been searching over google and all kinds of forums about 27in monitors. In the end I think I've broken it down to one of these two brands. But no one can seem to agree on which one is better. I like opinions but what I want is straight facts, why one monitor is better than the other. I've also come across IPS Panel monitors. If anyone has info on that and would like to share that would be very helpful too.

My goal is to spend the take my time and figure out which monitor to get. I would like to know do I want 1ms response time, or is 5ms ok if i get IPS? Also Asus says they have 80,000,000:1 Contrast ratio, but Samsung says they have 1000:1. some forums say ignore contrast ratio, cause they dont have a set system. I have also come across 300 cd/m2 and 250 cd/m2. I've looked that up too, some people say you cant notice the difference, but others say you can. I guess what I need is a monitor expert to just educate me.

Here are some of the monitors I was looking at (trying to stay under 500 dollars max):
Asus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236309 - IPS Panel (the only one I could find for my price range)
Asus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236302
Samsung http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001553
Samsung http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001551

And if anyone else has some suggestions I would love the hear them.

Thank you for taking to time to read my post, and give me some help.

Most monitors struggle to have >900:1 in terms of contrast, so ignore the 80 billion 1 values. The higher the brightness the greyer the blacks become, dark details become washed out/glow and back-light bleeding is much more obvious with high brightness settings. Manufacturer response time #'s don't mean anything either except when it comes to 2ms vs 5ms TN panels (5ms TN's are almost always slower).

Those Samsung TN panels are relaly over priced

The LG IPS277L is the best matte 27" 1080p IPS and it costs around 300$, or you can get the glossy alternative, the Acer S275HL for around the same price but the overdrive needs to be deactivated with a special trick...read this:

After looking at the LG it looks really good, I will go to best buy and see if they have them on display. Do you have any info on Asus? I really like their boards and GPUs but I don't know anything about their monitors. How does LG compare to Samsung in picture quality? Any other advice would also be helpful, thanks.
