Is the Corsair H60 decent?

Thread Starter
Hello. I've been using the CM 212 Evo on my current i5 3570k build. Its good and keeps things nice and cool...below 80c @4.3GHz running Aida64. The only downside to the 212 Evo was having to dremel the 200mm side case fan to accomodate the cooler in my Thermaltake Overseer case. I've never used a water cooler before so I decided to order an H60 as my first water cooler. I understand that its marginally better than my CM 212 Evo at best. But if it can keep my CPU cool even during the hot Texas summers (under higher ambient temps) I will be satisfied. I'm just trying to decide wether to install it when it arrives...or send it straight back to the egg, after seeing this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYe-aal6bOA

Aside from being painfully Canadian...I'm concerned the guy the guy in the video may also be mildly retarded. It appears that he has some beef with Corsair. Watch his introduction carefully and it appears that he has already made up his mind that the cooler will suck before he even opened the box. So are these decent coolers...or do they suck as bad as this kanuk says they do? Feedback from those who know is always greatly appreciated! wink.gif

Eh, H60 is alright, you could have done better with spending an extra 20ish to get the H80/H80i since it has a much thicker radiator. The radiator on the H60 is still a thin 120mm that only does a bit better since I think they improved the pump on it

You can get a much better cooler for less price than the H60/H80, they are bad overall really.

And the better air coolers will outperform the H100 aswell, closed loops are just not worth it really.

Closed loops are fine, not to mention that they look much cleaner than the monstrous coolers that "are better than an h100." Also, I would bet that the kraken x60 is better than any air cooler out there.

Thank you very much for the feedback. I will send it back to Newegg, unopened for a refund. I may wait until summer rolls around, check my temps, and then start shopping again. specool.gif

The H60 is a decent cooler so long as you don't overclock your CPU too high. If you do plan to overclock a bit more, then spend a little more dough and get the H80i or if you want, the H100i. People will say that you should just get an air cooler, but if you are already having trouble accommodating a Hyper 212, then most likely the bigger air coolers also won't fit in.

I actually disagree with you there, I like the looks of those monster air coolers =D
Especially the massive ones, they are just.. massive!

I dont plan on going any higher than my current 4.3GHz. My i5 is meh at best. Anything over 4.3 and my vcore goes 1.3v+, resulting in even more heat.

Keep in mind with a water cooler closed or not, the heat is going directly out of your case. People can pount all they want about bashing closed loops, they're still better than most air coolers.
