I got a Sapphire HD 7870 OC for my wife's new build. I liked the card SO much that I decided that I wanted to get a competing nvidia card to see how it held up, so I got a very nice GTX 660 Ti FTW Sig 2, which is a 660 Ti with a very big over clock from the factory. I told myself that the outcome of this would decide which direction I got when recommending cards to friends and such based on hardware AND drivers.

To sum things up, the 7870 is a superb card! It simply works. Games are a lot of fun on it, they are very smooth, and the card itself is very quiet and sleek looking. It's a keeper. thumb.gif

The 660 Ti? BF3 stutters and Minecraft crashes constantly. For a card that costs $60+ more, and for as much fanfare as people give to Nvidia's drivers, I expected the experience to be basically perfect. Guess that means the joke is on me, right? (or you guys that think nvidia's drivers are perfect.)

I now stand FIRMLY by my feelings that AMD is the company to beat in the GPU business right now. Their cards are price competitive and their drivers are fantastic. I'm going to give nvidia exactly 1 month to fix the issue. If they do not, the GTX 660 Ti is going up on the OCN marketplace for cheap and I'm getting an HD 7950 Boost... not to mention every person that EVER says that nvidia's drivers are superior I will flog them into a pulp. thumb.gif
You are still suffering from that stutter? Do you have a extra driver where you could install a new OS just to see if that helps? BF3 has always been butter for me. And to be fair, I have never had a issue with the drivers, ever. So to me they are perfect (of course I do not go around saying this because people do have issues with them).

If we're talking on a scale of how painless a driver is to get working, barring exceptional circumstances such as a driver frying your card (lol), the Nvidia driver is as painless as it gets.

My wife has a new system. It has Windows 8 Pro, a stock 3570k, and it had a GTX 660 Ti (now a HD 7870). The build was brand new with a brand new copy of Windows 8 installed on it. Because of this, any sort of hindrance or bottleneck was essentially eliminated. Do you know what happened?

The card STILL suffered from stutter, and I uploaded graphs to prove it. What was strange is that when settings were maxed out, the stutter was almost non-existent (much like what you experience.) However, as soon as you drop those settings (such as dropping 4xMSAA to no MSAA), the stutter returns in force. The conclusion is that those drivers like BF3 at max settings, but nothing else. It's like Nvidia optimized the drivers on Kepler ONLY for maxed out settings.

However, the 7870 is stutter free at all settings. I cannot explain that one, but the HD 7870 is the superior card from where I'm standing. In BF3, it's simply a more enjoyable card to play on. Unfortunately, so is my HD 5870 too.

Again, I must be the exception to the rule because I've had more issues getting nvidia drivers to install/uninstall. Also, nvidia has a nasty habit of leaving residual driver files on the computer after you have uninstalled it. Fortunately, I have Driver sweeper installed to get rid of the remaining crap, but there has been more than one instance where going from an nvidia card to an AMD card, I have not been able to install the AMD card without getting rid of those nvidia files... you can throw the blame either way on that one, but the fact that nvidia files are stopping me from installing an AMD card makes me hate nvidia driver files.

I use my htpc/server as a gpu test mule. I swap cards, thereby changing drivers often. I just uninstall either driver before swapping hardware and I haven't had an issue. I also don't use driversweeper nor any driver app for that matter.

Ironically, I have 4 systems in the house atm, 2 nv and 2 amd, pretty even till we count up the cards in ea system. biggrin.gif

Nice improvement here, never had stuttering in BF3 but it still runs great and so does FC3 thumb.gif

Seems stable so far for me. No crashes yet, unlike 310 which crashed every ~15 mins.

it seems Nvidia took the 313.95 beta drivers away from their website confused.gif. I can't see it

Go to Nvidia.com then go to top and click community. In the forum click on Drivers. Then find the 313.95 thread. The first post has all the links for each operating system. Goodluck

Here you go guys. Enjoy

https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/528430/geforce-drivers/-official-nvidia-r313-95-beta-display-driver-feedback-thread-released-1-28-13-/

I played Far Cry 3 tonight for about 3 hours. Things were a little more dialed in then before. Really smooth gameplay with vsync enabled. I will say that when I went in and changed it to Vsync smooth in the Nvidia CP it locked me at 30fps rather then 60. Thought that was weird. Switched it back to just "On" and it went back to 60fps.

yeah that happen to me to in borderlands 2 & battlefield 3, v-sync smooth in ncp lock me @30fps. I had to put it back to use 3d application settings
