Thread Starter
Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of building a Micro ITX gaming desktop that i'll be using for games and streaming video to my Home Theater system. My budget is $1000 and I was wondering if you guys can make some suggestions. I'll probably will go with GTX 670 for build and no water cool. Please help me out.

Thanks

It's "mini ITX", not "micro ITX". wink.gif

Any case preferences to know about first?

CPU, well I don't know a lot about Intel since I always use AMD but I do know the 3570 is a beast and a great performer.

This IMO is the nicest looking ITX case

Agreed with the Prodigy, mobo, and the 3570k for this build.

Edit: nvm. lol

I've been looking at Bitfenix Prodigy, Silverstone Sugo series, TJ08? I know the BitFenix will fit the GTX670 but not sure about the other 2.

the TJ08 is a MATX platform, but it's a great case none the less. If you wanted to go mATX for future expandability to a second 670 the TJ08 is my number one choice.

A lot of people right now are using the Prodigy because it's the hot mITX case on the market right now. It looks cool, has a decent enough layout, and provides plenty of room for water cooling.

You said you were not going to water cool so I think you should do something smaller like a SG08 or a Lian Li PC-Q11. My personal opinion of course, I love small sleek designs if I'm not going to use any water.

Have you considered the Silverstone FT03-Mini Silver or its Black equivalent? It should be able to fit a GTX 670 (card length limitation is 10") and is a lot smaller than the Prodigy. Prodigy is quite large for a mITX, almost like an mATX.

Not sure how much this helps, but I have slightly different uses for the computer (I play games but not use for home theatre) and this is the build I'm going for: http://www.overclock.net/t/1354377/ft03-mini-gaming-build-would-it-work

There's also the SG series from Silverstone: http://www.silverstonetek.com/product_case.php?tno=1&area=en which is smaller but can fit longer cards than the FT03-Mini.

When you say no watercool, is that no watercooling period, or just that you don't want to go custom wc? Which cooler you want to use will help determine which case you can run.

How concerned are you about case size? ie is smaller better for you, or are you just looking for a modest downsize from an atx tower?
