Fair enough, if it sends emails and can access the internet then he doesn't need anything else.
People like us who require powerful computers are a very small market segment, most people can probably still do with an '04 PC/MAC and be happy enough with it. The only thing an OEM would need to do so that they don't notice a difference to todays computers is stick in an SSD.

Even if aacer isn't the most sought after brand on the market, they still have a point. If people are choosing chromebooks over W8 laptops, something is up. They're not choosing tablets, they're choosing ARM laptops. Given that acer has a bad name, that rep has most likely been carried over to their chromebook line.

Pointing fingers doesn't do anyone any good but, somethings up. However, I doubt the survivabilty of chromebooks, Just wait for the next gen of low wattage, high power computing, low cost and windows will steamroll that linux offshoot like they did with the eee-pc's (even if that was mostly a space issue rater than actual computing power)

Damnit Acer, I want something in ultrabook form factor (thin & light) that doesn't cost $1600 AUD. Is that too much to ask?
Acer has been unhappy (and very vocal about it) with Microsoft ever since they announced/launched the Surface. This seems like more of an extension of that anger than anything else.

Now thats a blissful computing existence. But really, there's plenty of legacy software for PPC, tenfourfox, etc. Love my old iMac G5.

Folks I have a question

I am loving WIN8 so much but I respect your decisions as well.

Besides the lack of start button and few options moving to other places (such as shutting down the PC) what do you guys do not like about Windows 8?
