Some more questions about 7970s....

Lol, so I know I been asking questions about these alot but, was wondering if 7970s with 8 + 8 oc better then a 8 + 6 reference 7970.

To be exact Sapphire oc with boost that has a custom pcb and 8 + 8 pins

Or the MSI 7970 oc edition with 8+6 on a reference pcb.

Going to water cool them regardless but MSI would have the full block while sapphire has only universal. Does power really matter in oc like how it helps with cpu oc and mobos?

Go for the full cover blocks, the rest is just up to the silicon lottery.

What would be considered a good overclock for a 7970 anyways?

with voltage tweaking 1200 Mhz is considered a good / above average overclock. 1300 mhz is golden. thumb.gif

The HIS HD 7970 iceq X2 Ghz edition with model no H797QMC3G2M has a reference AMD design. so it will be compatible with full cover waterblock. has voltage control. dual 8 pin power connectors. the HIS HD card has 6+1+1 power phases compared to 5+1+1 on reference AMD HD 7970. you can confirm with ekwb site for full cover waterblock compatibility.

you can see the card here
