Consistent 1.27v with c states off or max 1.35v with c states and speedstep on?

Hi, just wondering what is better for 24/7 overclock, is fluctuating with a low of about 1.08 and max 1.35v better or is consistent 1.27 24/7 better for the CPU I mean. I have a z68 pro3 gen3 which has no voltage control other than offset voltage. With c states off I don't need to touch anything other than multipler to 44 and that's the best I can get, with c states on I up offset to +100 and hit 44x multipler as well. Temps are fine , max 72 in prime, 65 in games. It's a 3570k as well. Really don't know which way to go. Thanks.

what are your idle temps with 1.35? You won't notice much degration until 4-5 years and you might have to bump your Voltage up like 0.005 even then. Intel Rec is 1.3-1.45 so either way you are good. I'm at 1.344v max at 44x multiplier, with voltages dropping to 1.1-1.2 during internet browsing.

Idle temps are around 25 but that's with speedstep on @ 1.35. Like a idiot I tried with all c states off to go to 4.6 with offset set to +50 and now it black screens on restart, can't even get into bios. Looks like I gotta reset the CMOS?

yea, unless you have a button to manually reset it . What were idle voltages?

Again with c states on idle is around 1.1 but jumps up to 1.3 cos of speedstep I assume? Goes to 4.4ghz on 1 core pretty much all the time from what I have monitored. Yours pretty similar?

If you use Speedstep you have to use more voltage? o.O How much is the difference? Almost 0,1 but with C-state in that too. Only speedstep?

well i cant set the voltages only have offset voltage which needs to be +100 with speedstep and c states enabled, it jumps around and requests 1.321v in the VID column with actual voltage of 1.35. when i have speedstep and c states disabled i can lower offset voltage to default and it stays stable @ 1.27v.

Speedstep and C states shouldn't have any effect on the voltage needed for a given overclock. If you turn the C states on, with no offset, you get crashes at 44? You've tried using a smaller offset with C-states on? Does that board have settings for LLC?

I was assuming (and i think i have read it somewhere) that with the c states and speedstep on that the voltages can drop to low for the overclock which is what i think was happening with default offset. Whereas 1.27v with everything disabled was constant. And yeah it bsod's if i have offset to default with everything enabled. Cant even hit 4.6 with offset set to +100, it needs +100 for 4.4 with c states and speedstep enabled. No llc either. You think 1.35 is to much for 24/7?

heres everything.. ignore the awful colors, fraps stuffs it up for some reason...

The power saving features should have no effect when the system is under load, and so shouldn't directly affect the overclock or voltage. Is it crashing under load or at idle with C-states enabled?

I think it is more likely that the problem is related to LLC. If you are in Auto voltage (which is basically what default offset would be) then the board may be controlling LLC differently that it does with a value placed in the offset. I think your best bet is to turn on some moderate value for LLC (depending on what the board calls the option, something like Medium, 50%, or Level 3) and then try again with the offset and 44 to see if that helps stabalize you.

There's nothing wrong with either 1.27 24/7 or 1.35V under load, but you'd probably be better off if you got it working the "normal" way.
