Seasonic X-1250 Noisy *Update - Seasonic admit X-1250 units may have "unstable fan control" * - Page 2

Main problem of Corsair AX1200i - fan (photo). With ball bearing, but made by Yate Loon and got PWM. So if you're not lucky and your fan after a while will start make an extraneous sounds, it will be hard to find a replacement. So it's not like in Seasonic - San Ace from Sanyo Denki.

But PSU is good (and big tongue.gif) and pretty quiet:

Yeah it's a shame about the fan but the way I see it, by the time I pass 500W of load there will likely be other components and if I do have issues with the bearing, that's where the 7 year warranty comes in, 2 years longer than the Seasonic too. Plus the Corsair Link software allows you to modify the fan curve I hear so that'll be interesting.

On my old Coolermaster Silent Pro 850, the fan was the noisiest component so that got replaced and mounted with rubber gromets and it helped tons, did the same with a CX400 too. Never had an issue.

Here's a photo of the Coolermaster:

Think the fan was a Corsair case fan IIRC.

Seasonic has an EU office, talk to them and see if they can sort you out, it can't hurt. wink.gif

Also, Corsair Link is a joke, if you're buying the AX 1200i for that, don't.

I see you're in UK, look for a BeQuiet! P10 1000/1200 or an Antec HCP 1000.

After telling the guy I bought it from he said there was no warranty and he's happy to accept it back.

No, not at all, nor did I say I was. If I can change fan curves ect, that'd be useful though.

The Be Quiet! units are nice, we reviewed one. Not a fan on any Antec products, however good they might be.

The other reason I'm going for the Corsair is because in the summer I'll be working with them to do a build to take to a big LAN.

That's too bad, I absolutely love the Delta built units that Antec sells, they're always my first choice when planning over the top builds.

I see, why don't you just ask for one then. wink.gif

Nothing wrong with Delta, intact I like them plenty. I just don't like Antec, their products just seem cheap.

I may do but for now, I don't need to.

The X-1250 next to me is probably sub 600 RPM, not at all the same thing. A 600 RPM san ace doesn't equal fanless, trust me!

Yeah, that's the thing, I'm running caseless and 90% of the time don't have hard drives running, so for me the X-1250 is noisy.

Also an update on the Corsair AX1200i, it's fanless all the time which is ideal, the fan spins upto 100% on start up which is annoying and will be extra annoying when overclocking and benchmarking. When the PC is off it emits a high frequency noise that annoys me while trying to sleep, I know it's the unit because when I unplugged all of the modular cables, it was still there until I flicked the switch on the rear. It's a nice unit for sure and I love the idea of being able to buy pre-sleeved cables but for £260, it's way too expensive to be annoying.

I honestly don't mind paying for a good PSU but neither have been able to beat the Super Flower Golden King 550W that I'll be reconnecting tonight.
