I think this is a really good card compared to other 7950's. I'm not too sure how it actually compares with others, but I actually just purchased the Sapphire Dual-X 7950 to crossfire with this so I'll let you guys know if the two play nice together.

From reviews and forums I have read it seems that the HIS duel fan boost and the vapor x boost are both great overclockers also.

I gaurantee Afterburner does not report live clocks but rather is just reporting what you set it at.

Nah, your card under idle is meaningless. Run OCCT or any GPU stress test and watch your clocks under GPUZ and I bet you will see it running at 8xx clocks almost all the time. The temps you report are typical of stock clocks. When I get out of work I will fire up a TFIII and demonstrate how 'boost' editions basically lie to you about clocks, ok maybe not lie but certainly mislead.

Ummmmmmm nope I think everything is fine over on this end, but I am still interested in what you are talking about.

Sure, here is some stress testing with a slight OC, 7950 TFIII Boost...

Here is a close up of the GPU clock, the spikes are where it actually hit the OC.

Here is a Graph from Anand with a Boost edition running at stock demonstrating the fluctuations... Source

Here are the Benches from Anand showing the Boost out performing a regular 7950 by its base clock rather than it's boost speed.. Source

Hope this helps!

If you up the power control settings in CCC a bit (%5 for me) the clock stays at 960. Hope this helps smile.gif

Edit: Newegg has these cards in stock again as of 2/26 if anyone is looking for them.

Good advice if it gets you to stay thumb.gif

If you don't lock the clocks your card can still throttle to base clock. I don't want people to be wondering why there benching results aren't improving as much as they think they should. tongue.gif

Damn I thought they were discontinued I hope I don't regret buying the Sapphire Dual-X!

Sweet thanks for the heads up man! I just need one more of these for my x79 tri-fire rig and was hoping someone had them in stock again for a reasonable price. I'm just hoping they still are using the 6+8 pin/7970 PCB biggrin.gif since my other two do and I want to use the same HK waterblock for a third one.

Sorry to say, but I can pretty much guarantee you won't recieve one with the 7970 pcb. They have just been sending the 6 + 6 pin boost editions out lately.
