Has anyone ordered this msi7950 from newegg in the past few weeks to a month? I'm wondering what version they've been sending out. I know they're prob not doing the 7970 pcb anymore but what about boost/non boost models?

Newegg only lists the normal 880mhz one but I dunno how much they change their listing around to match the exact product specs for a given batch. Anyone with a fresh card got a heads up?

It is a boost at 960/1250 with a reference 7950 pcb 6 + 6 pin still. Watercooling thumb.gif But there is still a chance that there is an older version laying around that they might send out. You never know what you are going to get.

When did I say that? I meant that it jumps during gaming. I have those issues fixed now though thumb.gif I'm suprised that this thread is still alive!

Alright cool thanks. Probably gonna snag one tonight. Bioshock Infinite is a big bonus to me! Can't wait for that game.

Now that I have it in crossfire and it is the top card it gets to around 63c, which is still really cool, but if you do have to replace the TIM just carefully take it apart and use a paper towel to get the TIM off and then a lint free microfiber cloth to get it nice and shiny so it just looks like a clean mirror and then use the pea method with the TIM and put on the heat sink is perfectly lined up when you put it back. If you end up having to pull the heatsink up again because something wasn't lined up make sure you re-apply the thermal paste because to get the best temps you want to put even pressure downwards and remember, LESS IS BETTER. Also, don't use IC Diamond because it will scratch it. I would use Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra, but anything like AS5 or MX4 would be just fine. CLU would help you steer clear of throttling though.
Yea mine OCs well as yours too. Even I had no temp problems, I actually replaced the TIM with Prolimatech PK-1 and cleaned out my front grill and temps seem to have dropped by 8C degrees for GPU and 20C+ for VRMs!

What was your FPS gain in CF compared to single?

It's a good thread with useful info.

Did you fix it by disabling Powerplay and ULPS?

No I didn't disable powerplay because it made my cards always run at 1.25v so the temps were always higher than they should be when not gaming. I actually don't totally remember how I fixed it. Disabling ULPS was definetly part of the solution. I think I already had put the power slider to 20%. haha its strange that I can't remember.

In Valley with a single card at 1200/1600 I scored a 2000 on the extremeHD setting and with CF at 1150/1600 I score around a 3850 on the extremeHD setting. I'm actually pretty high up in the ranks of the dual card valley benchmark thread. Suprising for a CF 7950 setup. In Crysis 3 with all settings maxed out and 4x MSAA I can maintain a pretty steady fps of 60fps which I LOVE. That game is awesome for testing your overclocks whether it be CPU or GPU.

Also, I did end up replacing my TIM to Cool Labs Liquid Ultra and temps dropped 10c. Temps were already amazing so this is even better. I idle at around 25c because it is the top card in the CF setup, but the TIM really shines under load when temps don't pass 57c.

No not yet I'm saving up enough money for a quality water loop so maybe in a year or so, but until then I am going to be using my H100i for my CPU which will definetly free up room for my graphics cards to breath a little more and a new phantom 820 to help everything breath a little more. It is going to be a huge upgrade from my HAF 912 and Noctua NH-D14. Can't wait to get everything together. Sadly my Seasonic x-850 is about to go out for an RMA so it is going to be a while before I can put everything together. Now I just have to get my 35 REP so I can sell those and my other things that I have no use for since I have upgraded basically everything since I built my rig a couple months ago haha.
