Yes XoticPC is willing to help. I have been on the phone with Roland and he has been extremely helpful. He said that the issue is something to worry about. so... I am going to RMA it I think

Good pictures!
On the second one is the GPU. Did you repaste the CPU, it is from the right side (3rd picture)?

Yes I repasted it. I am actually getting lower temps already. Well I say lower I mean the CPU, used to read 49 -50 at idle now it is reading 43 -47. They had put so much thermal paste on them both that it was ridiculous. I used Arctic Silver 5, I want some IC diamond 24C but that stuff is expensive.

Edit: see the metal surround on the GPU? Should that be pasted? I hope so cause I did it.

The i5-2450M idle temperature with ICD at ~ 26*C room is about 44 ~ 45*C. You are in good range if your room temp is close to 25*C. AS5 is not so good as ICD is, so it's normal to have 2 ~ 3*C more.

No! Only the crystal.

Here it is the example how to be applied properly the thermal compound

Steps:
  1. before to start it is important to clean very well the heatsink and the CPU/GPU crystals with Isopropyl Alchohol. They must be perfectly clean, don’t touch theirs surfaces.
  2. put the TIM dot (size from above link, different for CPU/GPU) over the GPU/CPU center (the crystal)
  3. carefully attach the GPU/CPU heatsink and slowly start to screw the screws one by one with 1-1.5 rotation of the screwdriver. Don’t screw one screw at once because the TIM will not spread equally over the crystal. At the end don’t apply too much force for the final screw.

Note: The screwdriver usually is “ph #1”. If you perform well the task then there will be no need to RMA the beast.

After that you are ready for the stress test. Don’t use Fn+1 for the max fans speed!
