Low Score in 3dmark11

Thread Starter
I have core i5 2500k. Even after overclocking it to 4.6ghz, i only get 6700 physics score in 3dmark11.
I overclock my CPU be selecting turbo boost from my asrock bios.. Is it the right way to do ??

ASrock motherboard Z75 pro 3
2500k
4gb Gskill 1333 Mhz ram
500gb Hdd. ( No ssd)
600 watts Aerocool strikeX PSU
Sapphire 7950 3gb card..

One of my friends suggested that my motherboard doesnt support good overclock, but i checked a review on tweaktown which shows this motherboard is as good as z77 in overclocking..

I always had low scores from my processor, even 3dmark vantage gave me very low scores..

your build looks fine to me, not sure why your score is so low.
without an ssd my scores are also lower than average.

you should overclock your main cpu multiplier and not the boost multiplier. i believe the majority of overclockers disable the boost overclock and use the cpu multiplier exclusively.

I just read the entire 13 pages of thread and tried everything possible.. However there is one issue. Last week i was cleaning my PC and since then my time and date is of 22nd . Time keeps resetting at 6 pm. My battery cant be out because its been hardly 7 months since i bought this rig. And my 3dmark11 scores have always been low, even before this..

So far i have come to conclusion that i need to buy another stick of 4gb ram to make them run in Dual channel..

An i5-2500K @ 4.6GHz should score around mid 8000 in physics and possibly higher depending on ram speed and timing. My advice for you is test your overclock to ensure that it's maximally stable. An unstable overclock can result in a low physics score.

My CPU is perfectly stable.. I have monitered temperature as well. They are all normal..
On stock clocks,,, i m getting a mere 5500 physics score

if you're running single channel that's likely the problem. ram is so cheap might as well get another.

aslong as the voltages match you should be fine.

as to low physics score yes dual channel will help and even faster RAM improves physics scores.
