[CVG] Dead Space 3 producer defends console-to-PC port - Page 14

I love that instead of saying something intelligent like "we are taking extra care and time in the development of the PC version" he just insults the whole platform.

As if mice/keyboards are abnormal or something...

but that's not what was being said. tongue.gif That's what these articles wanted you to think in order to create controversy that wasn't actually there. He didn't insult the platform. Out of context, yes.. it looks like he's making the mouse and keyboard look like a special feature but the original article shows that he's just pointing it out as one of the reasons why the PC version ends up feeling different to the console version, which is true. In the end, they did put some extra effort into making it a proper PC version, despite being a port.

And it turns out that Dead Space 3 was a pretty dang good port. On chapter 12 all maxed at 3200X1800 downsampled to 1080p @ 60FPS. Perfect IQ and one of the better looking games released this year.

Yeah, it's a console port. It still looks better on PC. You have all the standard graphic options you would expect, and fully rebindable keys. The game runs completely smooth on the highest settings with post processing on my rig. I don't understand the outrage. Some games are ports. Dead Space 3 is a port. It's a pretty good one if you ask me. How many outraged have actually played the game on PC?

UT3 for PC has a terrible UI, same as every other console port.

Dead Space 1 was worse.

Still vsync bug after all these years (can't pass one of the 1st doors with vsync off - there's an invisible wall...) Controls were/is terrible. Vsync adds major delay on all movement/aiming.. I still liked the game, but it was a bad port.

Dead Space 2 was fine if i remember correct.

And I enjoy Dead Space 3. It works great both with Mouse and Keyboard and my Xbox 360 controller..

FOV is changeable via cfg. I play at 90 instead of 75. They could have made this option in the game.. But the game is pretty long.. It's one of the better ports i've tried. So i can't complain redface.gif

Wow.

He makes it sound like he is giving us a gift of sorts. However, what he fails to realize is that while PC gamers make up the minority of the market, we are still paying customers.

But now I can mark one game off my list of wants.

You should try reading through the thread. Heck, I pointed it out a few posts above yours. What he said is being pulled way out of context.

Yes, because I have the time to read 14 pages of crap, nor read the entire source article. But thanks for being rude about it.

I'm not being rude? Why is it so hard to find out if what you're saying is actually true or not? It takes 5 seconds to find the source. It's better than risking sounding silly..
