Gaming MMORPG & FPS 2x23" or 1x27" 1x23? - Page 2

I do have one 1080p monitor and I would not switch to 23/24 inches. I would rather get two less expensive 27".

Well I just put together an i5 build for a friend. He ordered a 27" Acer. I was unable to do 1920 x 1080 without there being black on the sides and bottom. Had to do 1050 instead. When in-game WoW, we had to settle for 1440 x 900 I think it was, to get full screen. 19xx x 1080 made black on sides and bottom. What's up with that?

I checked CCC and made the resolution change to 1080p in HDTV and still got black on bottom and sides. We were using HDMI the whole time.

Is there something like auto-adjust that may be needing pressed on the monitor?

Hmph, no experience with ATi with issues like this but with nvidia i was better off using VGA. Something like DHCP cannot report the monitor specs to the video card over that hdmi cable or something.

There's a slider in CCC you have to adjust. Don't remember the name though.

Okay, follow this.

Right click on your desktop, click Catalyst Control Center. Once it opens, on the left you have few tabs, go in My Digital Flat Panels, from there Scaling Options and then Slide the bar and adjust it at the right setting, save and exit. Everything will stay exactly like this even on reboot, it only does that on HDMI connections, same thing goes if he plugs in a HDMI TV. DVI automatically fill the entire monitor.

So, Catalyst Control Center>My Digital Flat-Panels>Scaling Options>Adjust.

Okay, I will relay those instructions to him. He was very satisfied with 1050, but I wanted to see 1080p on that 27"

After seeing and using his 27" Acer, I was surprised at how much larger the monitor was. Though I am not sure it is all necessary. rolleyes.gif
