Attacking my build doesn't make my points any less true though. Also, if I had bought AMD instead when I got my i5, I would have been looking at a 900w+ unit instead since I would have been buying an FX-8150 and if I bought this generation, I would have been looking at an 850w unit.

What makes you think you need 2x12v rails? Here's JonnyGuru's take on the whole multiple rails vs split rails thing:

And you really don't need more than a 750w unit. If you decide you absolutely must have more power, grab this XFX or this Azza unit.

And the Capstone is a fantastic Super Flower made unit based on the Golden Green. Most new Rosewill units are good. The older models are the ones you avoid.

just saying that yeah you pretty much said that I having and 8350 OC'd to 5.06 and SLI 460's and a whole gambit of things that 750w is just fine.. hmmm Should I also mention that the 460's per card eat up as much power as SLI config of newer models.. or roughly there of...

so just shhhhhhh its ok intel doesn't always have to be 20 steps ahead

You ALL act like little kids on here, regardless whose side you're on. The OP picked his choice. Good grief, this is worse than politics.

Again, read the very first two statements I made in that sentence:

If you look at the X-750 fan curve, it stays fanless to 300w and pretty quiet up until 500w

Since I love a quiet build, I'd be looking at a PSU that would be under no more than 75% load in any possible configuration, be it Intel or AMD. And since it fell in that range and I got it on super sale, I couldn't pass it up.

That still doesn't change the statement I made. If you plan on overclocking with AMD, you need a beefier PSU than overclocking with Intel. That is pure fact.

And I don't believe Intel is 20 steps ahead. The i5 is generally better for gaming the way games are currently coded, but the FX-8350 completely decimates the i5 in many tasks. I would never consider recommending the i5 to someone looking to do video encoding, rendering, code compiling, or any other heavily threaded task. Not only that, but Steamroller could have the potential to meet and beat Intel this next gen because Intel has been focusing on the IGP in Haswell because AMD has taken them to task with their APUs.

I am impartial when it comes to CPUs. I buy what's the best for my uses and my budget. In this case it was Intel, but in my last three builds it was AMD. So I love that people are still calling me a fanboy in this thread when all I have done is bring evidence to the table in OP's particular case.

Here, let me quote myself again:

I'm not saying OP won't be happy with it if they get it, it's just that it's not the best for what they're planning to use it for.

You're probably right. I'm just tired of people treating that Tek Syndicate review as an honest and true review and then it devolved.

Yeah, I hear you. Funny how all the benchmark sites are so biased about every little thing. Who's going to notice a few fps differene? I mean, really, who is?

thanx for all the answers guyz, i feel abit awful that a few of u were treated badly due to their comments. srry for that. i have actually planned on upgrading my current rig into an i5 3570k(gonna have to wait for 4-5months). and also buy an AMD FX 8350 atm. i need 2 PCs mainly and my current 1 doesn't seem work well.

i think some1 told me i should change my choice in graphics card from 7850. can anyone suggest a good 1 around similar price?
thanx again all. srry for the late reply, was busy(end of month work rush).

If you game and are waiting a couple months would just hold out for 8xxx series.

(If you said it my bad lol. Didn't read other pages because I knew 80% of it would have been about why to go intel not AMD.)

Back in the day review sites assumed a 3-5% difference as negligible and part of the natural variations of the test conditions.

Nowadays a 5% seems to be like one system is nuke blowing the other one.

yep, wait for the 8xxx series.
the only cards in the same price range are the 7870, the 560ti, the cheaper 570s and the 660(non-ti). the 7850 is the best card for the price and the 7870 is the best card in the next step up.
