[PCGH]Crysis 3 beta: first performance review - Page 14

Just wanted to offer a hand in the translation of that quote...

the first line isn't really even close. it says something more like

"It's clear that crysis 3 is, at the moment, very GPU intensive, while processor performance is largely irrelevant."

I'll post the rest of the translation of the quote if anyone cares..

second sentence is something like "thus, at maximum details GPU calculation that is only possible with the very fastest video cards is required in order to achieve the 60 FPS mark, without AA"

next up "As you can see from the placement of the cards, without AA the performance hierarchy is similar to what is seen in other games without AA."

"4xAA results in a fairly significant performance loss, although the Geforce cards fare clearly better than the Radeon cards. The 13.2 catalyst drivers do little to bridge this gap, although AMD promises increased performance when using MSAA of around 15%"

(oh and sorry this isn't a block quote, i'm going line by line atm...i'll block it when im done)

so the finished translation would be
Quote:

The wording isn't perfect but it captures the idea of it much better than the google translate quote lol

if anyone wants any other part of the article translated just ask i guess.

wasn't sure if this was a good thread to ask but man i get 30 to 40fps with my setup. Is that bad or am i crazy for trying to run 8xmsaa. I mean what aa is the best balance here. I hear 4xsmaa. I hold 40-60 with that which is ok for me. I can't handle the 30s though. I prefer a constant 60. I hope that some good sli support hits after release allowing me to run 8xmsaa with decent fps.

i should also admit it hits the upper 20s with 8xmsaa at times with intense stuff going on.

I've found that everything on very high minus the shaders get's excellent frame rates with 2x smaa. I can practically lock it at 60fps (still dips into the 40's low in the biggest fights, but usually at 60fps easy). Putting shaders to very high shows quite a frame rate dip with (to me) no change in visuals on either map.

All settings maxed at 1440p with Fxaa usually average 41 fraps thats acceptable to me in my opinion and the multiplayer is actually pretty cool I'll snag this little gem the second i see if selling for 20 bucks!

Edit this game is better with a 360 controller in my opinion...

The 13.2 release drivers that came yesterday give amd cards a 50% boost w/ msaa4x and 8x .. also seeing same results with SSA. Still terrible if any real cf/sli support. @ 1080 very high everything w/ msaa8x averaging 60fps now w/ 97% GPU usage. I know they didn't offer cf/ski support during alpha and not seeing a difference w/ cf disabled.. although my 2nd card is also working @ 97%. 2x 7970

This 40 avg on single or crossfire/sli on res higher than 1080p are all over the place and is getting weird in my radar.

Performance will improve with Game improvements out of Beta and driver improvements so I think we will see better performance to come.

Ive found upgrading to Windows 8 gives me a 5-10% performance boost at Very High preset and no AA...

EDIT: Also get higher fps using D3Doverrider and not in-game Vsync
