I agree with this, I would only go with one of these if space was a problem. ie itx mb or similar.

A Prolimatech Megahalems is pretty good, in some reviews its around the same performance as the Noctua, but i think it looks better smile.gif

I've owned both the Silver Arrow (older design, not the SBE) and two NH-D14s. The D14 reacts a bit better to low speed fans in my experience, but higher pressure fans are probably going to make the Arrow perform better.

They are barely better than top-shelf air coolers in most scenarios, and often have worse performance relative to their noise level and price.

Space for what? If anything you should go high end air if you have the space. It's a simpler solution with far less headaches than AIO solutions. The D14 and its rivals are all pretty much on par with the H100. Also, the H100 doesn't "save" space. You have to put the rad somewhere. At best you're simply moving the large hunk of cooling metal to the top of your case.

Back on topic. I have the D14 and I absolutely love it. My case fans make more noise than it. It keeps my 3570k below 65C during long Prime runs so I'm pretty happy with it.

Majority of enthusiasts are screaming Phanteks. I personally never had one, but I had a custom loop, The Corsairs and D14. Now I can say that it will depend on your overclocking goal. Since you mentioned you already have the H60, I will personally tell you that buying a D14 will just going to be the same performance wise, but again, you mentioned the noise so I'm going to say it will resolve the noise issues hands down.

The D14 is quiet, I mean you will not hear the annoying buzzing sounds but you will the sound of the "air flow" which in my personal preference is ok. Most times I really don't hear the fans since I use headsets and I always listen to music when in front of my pc.

Custom loop = be ready for future maintenance
AIO = 2 years and you can just throw them away due from evaporation (you're lucky if it last for 3 years)
Air cooling = all you will worry is the dusts build-up which you will also experience on both mentioned above.

Based on all I've read, I'd go with a Silver Arrow. The fans are better than the D14. And the SA cools better than the D14, even with the same fans. And it is cheaper. And the plain vanilla D14 does not have PWM fans.

That said, you should never get RAM with coxcombs. Samsung makes the lowest profile RAM, but RAM is low Voltage these days, so there is no excuse to get RAMsticks with tall heatsinks.

I'm not impressed with the Phanteks fan. If you have the money, of course, get a Phanteks cooler with Thermalright TY-140's (same as in the Silver Arrow) or TY-147's in place of the Phanteks fans. For Phanteks, it is the heatsink and not the fans that give it the cooling power it has.

^This. The D14 is very good. The Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E is even better and if you want even more cooling you can get the extreme version with higher speed fans. And like ehume says tall ram is mostly looks/e-peen.
