[CNN Money] Microsoft wants you to pay $100 a year for Office - Page 8

Even Google is quite nice in the home use department.
Or people that aren't convinced they need to spend a couple hundred dollars to do a task that they can in most cases do with a free program.

Not everyone is in school where they can get all the software they can dream of for free or cheap as dirt.

C/o 1998. Go blue.

While much of what u say may be true don't pretend like office is not the de facto standard.

I got Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus for free (legally). I only use Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Screw paying for software. If Office 2010 becomes outdated which I doubt (2003 still works fine for most people), I'll switch back to LibreOffice (a fork of OpenOffice, much better now that Oracle owns OpenOffice).

I'm getting 365 for free through work so I can't complain, but the ability to use Office within a browser and have access to all your work through cloud-storage is pretty nifty. $100 a year nifty? Not for most.

Won't be long until the 'ol "I forgot to print it and it's saved at home" excuse for papers runs dry. Hopefully I graduate before my professors catch on tongue.gif

Am I alone in worrying that they will try this nonsense with their OS too? Some garbage like 200 to buy with limited updates or 100 a year with proper support.

Will do. thumb.gif I have never even heard of this, but if it is the basis of what I think it is it makes me want to say something like "As a business man I have to say Ballmer is worst of our kind. When a salesman is put in charge of an enterprise they always insist on bleeding dry the patrons that give the enterprise life and neglect the value chain improvements that are necessary to continue previous success," but that may be premature.

Oh, I read this as "Microsoft wants to pay you 100 a year for office"; I was thinking it was too good to be true ^_^

gogo libre office.

Ill get a free copy of 365 (legit) just to try.

also the average person should probably not be using anything but office because it tends to confuse the crap out of them and can run into compatibility issues.

I though use libre office and have no complaints.
