I finally found the PowerJack! The only other place that has them is the Canadian side of NCIX and I couldn't figure out how to get them to ship to the US. (It would be nice though considering it's WAY cheaper from there and I'm always skeptical of buying anything off Ebay) redface.gif

That's really strange they don't sell them on the US side of Ncix.com

Did you try contacting them to see if an exception could be made?

No I didn't think to do that, I doubt they would make an exception for such a small item. But when checking out internationally the shipping down here to the US would cost just as much as buying from Ebay!

(Also I think I've decided on the Sapphire Vapor-X 7970 Ghz Edition. It fits my build scheme nicer and seems like the better card for pirce/performance) thumb.gif

Um it was at newegg but ran out? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814999028

Also was at US NCIX http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=54573

You probably won't see any flex if you get a backplate

That's what I would normally do! But sadly there isn't a backplate that anyone makes for this card. Not even Sapphire themselves. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif Aside from commissioning one from Dwood (which sounds interesting but I've never traded with someone on OCN before rolleyes.gif). But anyways. A backplate would be good. Maybe if/when I get the card i'll take some measurements and hit up Dwood.

Could always grab a Watercooling backplate? Dwood's backplate is $25... pretty much half price of the Waterblock ones

http://triptcc.com/product/amd-7970-backplate/ (Dwood would fit HD 7950 with HD7970 PCB)

If you can order from Europe: http://www.coldzero.eu/product.php?id_product=1066

Sorry I didn't clarify, they don't make a backplate for this card because it's a non-reference PCB design. redface.gif

i would as well say go with the 7950....i am about to upgrade from a 6970 to a 7950
post #19 of 32
The comparison information of user information is cool and I am not about to argue with those numbers. I will have to take a look at more of those details. I am really curious about the different setups and spread of other peoples performance.

For me the 7950s made more sense, and I am very happy with my decision. I believe the 7970s would ultimately be faster but I am not sure if the difference is worth the price. Over clocking has been solid on all 4 ATI cards i have tried in the last 2 months. My only complaint right now is the heat being generated when I put them in crossfire, but I have a new water cooling project to deal with this.

Point for the 7970s though, are the incredible numbers people are getting out of 2, 3, or 4 card stacks. The 79xx generation of cards seems to have been very underestimated by the AMD marketing department.
