Is 7600GT a decent upgrade from X1300?

Thread Starter
Like the subject says, I have an x1300 card I am satisfied with but certainly not enthusiastic about. Will this card show me a decent boost? Right now I am just trying to get a good value for my performance boost. This seemed to fit the bill.

Feel free to let me know if I am being stupid.

No, you're not being stupid, that would be a great upgrade You'd see a massive improvement. However, if you could stretch 50 bucks, the 7900GS would be much more future proof.

I hadn't seen any 7900's at the 150 price point. Are they out there? At 106 shipped, this seemed like a lot of bang for the buck. I will have to do some more looking for 7900GS.

Thanks

$145 after a mail in rebate. However, I have been hearing that the XFX 7900GS's tend overclock better.....those run about $10 higher.

I just got my 7600GT today. The x1300 in my sig rig was scoring 4500 in 3DMark03. I just ran it on new card and stock clocks/drivers and got 14,000+. I am totally stunned. Now to find out more about driver choices and OCing.

i uphgraded from a x1300pro to a 7600gs and there was a world of difference i think the x1300 i had at 600/800 had only 9 pipes and my 7600gs has 12 and im still waiting on my zalman 700 for it!
oh i would say go 7600GT XXX but you took it a step higher

the difference between a 7900GS and a 7600GT XXX isn't that big right.... ? (don't forget i'm talking about an 'XXX' )

The 7600GT is clearly a great improvement over the X1300. tHE X1300 is a card just to get things up and running and not for gaming really.
