Ok this is really starting to annoy me. Someone please help. [SOLVED]

I own a Logitech G5 (yes this mouse has served me well for about 4 years now) but thi has got to stop.

I use the single button on the side of the mouse for mumble chats with my friends when we game. Problem is when I play a game like BF3 where I'm forced to use the browser it goes back a page every time I chat.

I really didn't want to but after doing some research the only way to fix it was to install Logitech set point and set an application specific role for that button in Firefox. Great news it doesn't work. I get told by set point that "this button cannot be set for application specific control". I've poked around windows mouse options in control panel and found nothing.

Does anyone know how the hell I disable the "go back" function on the side button of my mouse? Please help as I'm about ready to throw this thing out the window.

Is there no way for me to avoid setpoint or any 3rd party software? Setpoint has always let me down so I've tried to avoid it like the plague.

If you want to disable mouse 4/5 buttons for browser only, you're going to have to use a 3rd party application. If you somehow managed to disable the buttons at the HID, it would disable functionality of those buttons on ALL applications. If you don't want to mess with setpoint, try using x-mouse button control. Here's the site for the download. It's pretty straight forward. You're going to want to disable mouse buttons 4 and 5 for any browser applications you use, such as IE or FF. Good luck!

http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/XMouseButtonControl.htm

Edit: If you're using Win8, this may not work for you. You're really stuck using some other 3rd party app, and the only one that is likely going to support your OS is Set Point. There are several versions of Set Point floating around out there. Download yours from here:

http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/3131?section=downloads&osid=1&bit=32

Make sure you get 64 or 32 bit right when making selections.

Thankfully xMouse worked. As I stated before I tried using setpoint but when I added firefox to the application specific buttons it told me it can't change mouse 4 for it. Setpoint has ALWAYS been broken in one way or another for me and I will not suggest it to friends.

+REP for your suggestion though. It solved my problem. biggrin.gif

I just cannot believe Microsoft/Mozilla haven't built in a disable button for this. It's crazy.

See for me I've always used mouse 4 for voice chat in games so I'm used to it. You have to agree though that it's stupid that they haven't included and option in the mouse properties in control panel to turn this off. I mean how hard can it be?

I've always wondered why people use ptt when mumble has such awesome voice activation. Not that I want to say you are wrong to use ptt, I just don't see the point wink.gif

I use voice activation while gaming because I need all my buttons already for game inputs. While not gaming I set a shortcut in mumble for "mute voice"

I used to use it but then I got raged at because my speakers kept activating it and people don't like to hear you playing a game.
