Like I said your cranking things way down to pull off a 60fps average on any demanding game with a single 670 on 2560 resolutions. A 680 can barely hold 40fps and your claiming 60. That's one impressive 670 you have there.rolleyes.gif

I suggest you stay away from FarCry3
http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/far_cry_3_graphics_performance_review_benchmark,6.html

At 1440p the only thing I need to turn down to get 60 FPS is AA. That's not exactly turning things way down... The only game this doesnt work in is Crysis 3. I havent tried FarCry yet.

You're also not factoring in overclocking.

Hey everyone,
I'm having a great time on Crysis 3. I have right now a good mid-range system and plan on upgrading in March/April when I get paid for some big jobs.

here is a video below I made last night playing with two 550ti's in SLI. Please note, the recording software was really killing my FPS (literally... a 9 minute video was 32GB in size!), but normally I can run this game on 50-60FPS pretty smoothly. These are the settings I'm using right now as well as th video:
1XAA on low setting
Effects: Very High
Objects: high
Particles: Very high
post processing: medium
shaders: low
shadows: high
water: high
textures: very high
motion blur: off
v-sync: off

I'm a programmer and have done game development so I understand a bit more what some of the nice features are of the game and what settings to use to make it look good without taxing the GPU too much. I recommend everyone push for at least a low AA (because honestly without it this game looks very jaggedy, especially tree/sbushes). Then go for game effects and particles on higher settings, everything else comes second. Why? The effects and particles is really where Crysis 3 and the Crytek engine shines. Unfortunately particles is also a demanding though especially when firing your gun giving you those bad FPS drops when you need to maintain a good FPS. But I would say strive for that.

The 550ti in SLI is pretty slick, the main reason I did it was I wanted to get more serious into gaming after building my first system and picked up a second one for only $80. I plan on upgrading it within the next couple months so I can crank up Crysis 3 even more! The only thing I hate - these graphics cards are very expensive, and for all the horsepower they have there's no many games that utilize that power like Crysis does. Anyway here's my video.

I guess my CPU is just sticking sticks into the wheels of my GPU in Crysis 3, get 30-35fps on very high.

Dude, I looked at your PC in your sig, somethings gotta be wrong, you have a great CPU and a 680 GTX, you should be tearing it up in Crysis 3!

Have you done any overclocking on that CPU at all? The speed is kinda low, get a cheap aftermarket cooler and overclock it to 4Ghz. And what is your RAM running at? Make sure it's not underclocked in your BIOS and that it's actually running 1600Mhz (or higher if you can OC it stable). Something definitely soudns wrong, you should be playing this on high/very high pretty easily IMO.

Im in the process of overclocking it, as Ive been having Win8 and had Beta UEFI bios I couldnt OC.
Im back on Award now and trying to OC, currently trying to hit stable 4.2.

Ram runs at 1600.

Max VRAM usage: 1961 MB. I hope the full game is a little less VRAM hungry...

Almost feel like quoting this in my sig when all the people were saying 2gb is more than enough for the next few years. Drop the AA down a bit and you should be ok. On maxed settings with 4x MSAA I show 2010mb used, atleast as reported by my sig.

Use SMAA.

Game developers today are in an alliance with the GPU makers, thus making stupid demands to keep the money rolling.
