Sick of hearing about textures... Most companies don't even make use of the extra VRAm anyways.
Also, why don't GPU's have 4GB of vram already..? (standard).
The end-user/gamer don't care about the added $40 bucks, if it forces the Developer's hand.. and say "look.. why all have 4gb, use it.."
Think about a game like Mortal Online... they have a 64bit client too, thats in stasis why they "work on other things" (small team) but imagine if the opened the game up to moAr niche and set the game's requirements alot higher, to include 4GB Vram and 64bit OS, etc. That niche will be served... and that community will be stronger as the Developers are now unrestricted with what was plagueing them before...
Point is, why not give the niche -gamer his due? If we are going to spend $250+ on a game card why not at least offer it always in two variants, etc (2GB, 4GB, or even 8GB). Allow the end-user to bring common denominator up, & raise the PC gaming bar, to a higher standard.
I don't mind the added cost.. of added memory. Anyone else?
