[WCCF]NVIDIA GeForce Titan Is Not GTX 780 – Performance Surpasses GTX 690 - Page 2

Do we have any figures for pricing? That would be cool to get quad 680 power in two Titans. I hope it scales!

I don't see this outperforming a GTX690. If it does, however... I may have to upgrade a lot sooner than I thought. biggrin.gif

So what is it? Is it a dual chip card like the 690? Cuz i have a really hard time believing that a single GPU could surpass a 690 unless Nvida discovered some kind of alien mothership.

I think everyone pretty much assumed that it wouldn't be branded as the 780 after the last rumors.

However no matter how much I'd like it to be true, a single GK110 will not beat a 690 unless there are issues with SLI scaling. (without some miracles happening that is...)

If true... Wow!

Good job nVidia!

I would like to know on what metric they are saying it is faster than the 690 though, if it is compute then I can easily understand it - the GK104 is compute poor. If they are talking in terms of FPS then that would be truly amazing.

I might have to re-think my policy of never buying flagship cards.

Sorry, but Titan is not going to outpace a GTX 690. There is no way nvidia can keep the heat dissipation in check on a single-chip solution on the 28nm process.

Well Titan is a stupid name for a gpu but if the metrics are right I'll buy it.

Basically I am sitting here with the parts for a whole new build and I am just waiting on the new graphics cards to drop. It will be between the 8970 and "Titan".

Performance matters to me but so does noise and heat, especially noise. If one is a little slower than the other but much quieter I would even take the slightly slower one.

EDIT: I just saw rumored price point of $900, that is not happening. So that kind of makes up my mind for me.

There is the possibility that GK104 is broken when it comes to ROPs, ALUs or TMUs, but I find that extremely hard to believe. This is most likely yet another fabricated rumor to generate page hits.
