[WCCF]NVIDIA GeForce Titan Is Not GTX 780 – Performance Surpasses GTX 690 - Page 34

I'm actually going to revise my numbers and statement saying that titan will be 8% slower then a 690. I went over the numbers again and here is what i came up with.

Titan - 2688 Cuda Cores
680 - 1536 Cuda Cores
690 - 3072 Cuda Cores

At 1920X1080 the 690 is 34% faster then a 680 with roughly 10% lower clocks.

680 > Titan gives us a 75% increase in cuda cores as well as 50% better memory bandwidth based on memory clocked at 6000. I'm thinking Titan will be clocked around 850mhz meaning IMO titan will be on average 22-24% better then a 690. Will have a better idea when clock specs are released.

It very likely may be 2880 CC per latest rumors. Also, more cache + cache improvements, architectural optimization, etc. can affect things significantly. Really there's too little info to call it right now, though speculation is fun smile.gif. There will be more ROP's as well which will be a per-clock increase additionally.

2880 cores aka fully GK110?

Wasn`t it 2880 on 15 SMX, but 1 SMX is disabled on the Titan so we end up with 2688?
Oh well, won`t complain if they go all in biggrin.gif

I'm gonna guess this is just another estimation that derived from the 85% of GTX690 rumour, since it doesn't give an exact score like the other gpus;

If vegas would take the bet, I would put my money on 6GB VRAM, voltage locked, released in march, somewhat limited quantity, and 85% of a 690. If it can overclock at all maybe it will get closer to a 690. My gut tells me we will be disappointed about the "outperforms 690 by 15%" rumor.

While 2GB of VRAM is usually enough for 99.9% of games out right now to run at max settings on a single 2560x1440 monitor, more VRAM can only help...and besides, two of these things in SLI down the road?! Crazy. Plus, it's not hard at all to offload a 690 for pretty much what I paid for it last March, so reselling won't be a problem.

Eagerly awaiting performance results in comparison to the GTX 690 now...

I think if they come out with a card that preforms at or above the 690 the price you will take won't be "close" to what you paid... prolly 75% tops.

I agree.. why come out with a 900$ card that beats their "signature" cards?

The only way it would work is if they do a pricedrop on the 690. I could see them dropping the 690 to $700 or $800. Other than that they will not have a higher performing new single gpu 6gb card, less than their older, slower, dual gpu, 2GBx2 card. Maybe they will do a small price drop (which would make them compete on value against AMD) for the next 6 months to get rid of all the 6 series stock and then roll out the 7 series.

I hope this is the way they do it.. I'd love to see the 690s come to about 799. I'm getting ready to get rid of my 680 and might wind up with a 7990...

Guess what, I am here to crash all of your hopes and dreams.

The Titan is not a consumer card.

it is built for folding and other similar "GPU as a general purpose Processor" tasks.

There are absolutely NO display connectors on the cards.\

KEY FEATURES
GPU
 Number of processor cores: 2688
 Processor core clock: 732 MHz
 Package size: 45 mm × 45 mm 2397-pin ball grid array (S-FCBGA)
Board
 PCI Express Gen2 ×16 system interface
 Physical dimensions: 4.376 inches × 10.5 inches, dual-slot
Display Connectors
None

Don't believe me? Look for yourself.
