Asus Maximus II Gene

Thread Starter
Hey Guys!

I had posted a thread a while back, ( http://www.overclock.net/t/1354232/socket-775-motherboard )
In it, I asked if anyone knew of a LGA 775 Micro ATX Motherboard that had two pciE X16 slots so I could run CrossfireX without having to get a new processor and case.
I got no replies, but after surfing around the interwebs for a few hours, I heard tell of the Asus ROG Maximus II Gene.
Ithad everything I wanted, but now I have a bigger problem:
I can't find it ANYWHERE on the internet. No Ebay, no Newegg, no FrozenCPU, no Amazon, no TigerDirect!

My question is, does anyone know where I can accquire one of these incogneto boards??

Thanks!

I don't think you're gonna find that anywhere but auction sites. Its just wayy too old. Maybe check craigslist but thats a pretty specific item to be looking for. However, just messin around on eBay I did happen to find that mobo combo'd with a proc and memory.

I don't think it's that old, production started in '09.
I like the one you linked me to, but it isn't micro atx.

Thanks anyways!

you missed the boat i popped up on ebay some while ago and promptly dissapeared. also it does NOT have dual x16, it runs @ 8x with two video cards.

Yeah it's fairly new, the last bios update was in 2012.

They are rare like unicorn poop. i was NOT expecting any replies when looking for one myself in earl 2013/late 2012. someone one OCN posted a link to an ebay age that had JUST popped up after i made the thread (i looked my self before) they were not on ebay for too long. i think it cost around $130 USD shipped. picked one up for my friend we have yet to even test if it posts.

Honestly though it seems like your putting too much emphasis on dual x16, its not really needed unless maybe its 2x 290x's or something and still not sure you would loose more than 1% from articles I have seen in the past.

i've heard that 8x 8x is still pretty good once before, that's really nice to know.

The board is older and hard to find , sorry I have no idea on finding one, other than hit/miss on ebay.

I have the asus rampage ll gene bought back in late 2008 , still have it, paid $250.
Have (2) xfx 285 cards, sli, cost $350 each back in late 08 or early 09.
An i7 920 DO , nice OC'er, and 6gb mushkin DDR3 1600 7-8-7-20 $200.00

plays the original crisis very well.

M1 Abrams is my old username, forgot password , here is my gene superpi 32m,under 8min

FYI your not supposed to have more than account you, message the moderators for help getting your old account back.

a maximus II gene is still a very capable system specially with a nice high binned xeon that can over 4ghz or even a q9550 (most q9550s do 3.8). a q9550 with good ram can handle a GTX780.
