Accelero Hybrids? - Page 2

I have this cooler and I definitely can recommend it to you. My card has the reference 680 PCB so that makes the VRM cool easily. And by the way this costs $99 on NewEgg so not bad for the price, really. If you compute it, you'd probably spend more if you go with the Mod and Dwood's bracket.

My ambient is 31C (very hot) but I can manage to have a Heaven full load temp of 46C when replacing the F12 fan with a GT AP-30 PWM-modded running at around 1800RPM.

I can't comment on dwood's bracket (didn't discover it until after I had already installed the Accelero Hybrid), but I can say that I am very pleased with the solution. With my original install it was keeping my 2GB 680 @ 35C under full load at 1228/1701/1.1750V with 2 cougar Vortex PWM's at max speed. That was with 20 hours of rendering going on at 100% GPU load when I accidentally left an application running. Since I installed my backplate and I need to redo my TIM application now that its spiking up to 40C (I got lazy and didn't clean as well as I should've =/), but that's still pretty amazing. That being said I probably would've gone with dwood's fan bracket and some small VRM syncs had I not already installed the unit. So far it's been fairly quiet with all 3 fans at 100% and I'm very impressed considering I got it for $99. I would recommend a backplate from dwood , in any case, as it helped quite a bit with the PCB warping/dropping that came with removing the reference cooler.

I also keep my ambient temp around 66-68F (19-20C) year round so your millage may vary.

How can you say that this cooler can possibly warp the PCB of the GPU?

I've seen it on my own 680 and in quite a few reviews. It's not an uncommon thing in my experience with any aftermarket block that only mounts on the 4 holes around the GPU die. I've also seen it in quite a few of the non-reference cards I have had over the years with the manufacturer provided blocks. Another thing I noticed after some time was that the end of the PCB was beginning to droop, again, not terribly uncommon in some cases.

Look real closely at the PCB of this card in the review :

Oh ok. But I think this is more pronounced for Arctic Cooling Air Coolers like the Xtreme III or something. The thing is that the stock cooler of my card is also intact only by the same four screws. The accelero hybrid cooler is lighter in weight, I'm pretty much syre of that.

Who makes the waterblock for this cooler? Asetek?
