Some ppl just don't understand that you could have them that cheap.
It is how I keep my high end rigs affordable. thumb.gif

But can it run Crysis? I might ditch AMD for this in the future.

crysis 3 and bf3 I believe being the only titles that use more then 4 threads.

Ill be upgrading at the next platform.

It's a Xeon. It's not meant for gaming, and if that's all you do you are not the target market for this chip.

Sorry to be off topic but does anyone have a link to cpu benchmarks with game creation, 3d rendering, video rendering and app performance?

Sandy bridge e 6 cores are native 8 core chips.

I'm assuming that the LGA 2011 socket means these will saddle up with the Sandy bridge E boards (with bios update)?

Yes, based on Intel's past history that should be the case. There may be a refresh of the x79 chipset like there was with Z68 and Z77, but existing boards should be compatible.

Yes, it's an ES and a server processor, not exactly surprising to see those speeds.

Indeed and those are very decent clocks for early ES'es as the sandy generation started at 1.6Ghz.
Followed by 1.8 2.0 2.3 2.7 2.9 the later we're ofcourse only made in small amounts as ES until 2.3 were produced a lot for testing/engineering/reviewing
