Tell that to every person on my friends list or anyone else on OCN that uses Steam alot.

Somehow I can be in the middle of a match on TF2, start typing a message then Click Enter just to see steam is offline or undergoing maintenance message(always the worst timing). Sure it will only last a short time, but can get annoying. By far not a IPS or router problem, both are dead solid on my end.

Still happens when I'm using my 4G though my phone as well, It's a Steam Problem and A Vary well known one at that. Steam is no where near perfect, even though I still think it is the best compared to the rest. Still waiting on offline messaging, origin has it.... Steam does not and will be much welcomed by me when they do finally add it.

I don't get kicked or anything, just the steam chat services disconnects. So really you have to use chat to really notice, I have chat windows up the entire time my main rig is up so I notice it easily.

I use Steam every day, never had it go out on its own unless it was my internet.

It is not that they do not develop new IP's, but rather they buyout studios that made good IP's and drive them straight into the ground. Remember Westwood and the Command and Conquer series? They made a great RTS games until EA took over and imposed deadlines that caused the original employees to quit and the company began releasing rushed and unfinished games. Remember Bullfrog and their games like Populous and Magic Carpet? After EA purchased them, most of the employees quit and their games sucked since the purchase and subsequent "merger." Sim City has sucked ever since EA purchased it, same with Sims franchise, NFS franchise, and more recently Dragon Age (really Bioware as a studio). There was also the aggressive attempt for hostile takeover of Rockstar when they refused to sell to EA. EA not only fails to develop good IP's, but they purchase great IP's and studios and completely ruin them out of their greed to milk the fanbase and nickel dime gamers with meaningless DLC's. If you are a young gamer, you probably don't hate EA. Some of us have been around long enough however, to see the trail of dead studios that EA has left behind.

Just so you know, EA is the only reason we have Sims and while a bit cash-cow like TS3 is pretty good, SC4 is also considered the best and came out way after Maxis was bought by EA.

What we want: More games that aren't the same as what everything else is.
What EA wants: One, preferably two versions of action games that sell like CoD.

That often seems to be the case - instead of answering to your fans, your art and yourself you end up answering to investors.

And investors couldn't care less about the customer, the product or you. Investors care about one thing and one thing only; return on investment.

The thing that annoys me is that you can do it two ways, by treating the customer right and keeping them both completely happy and the like or as EA does, both tend to work too.

I hosted a large (around 120 people) minecraft server for two years, and most of the them had a steam account. I had almost everyone on my steam chat, mostly talking to the other moderators. We stopped using it because we had switched to teamspeak (although, we still used the steam chat for off-game chatting). Never had a problem with steam going offline or connection issues in the two years that the the server was up. I am on steam 24/7, and never encountered any issues.

Steam chat servers go down at least once every two or three games days. He's not talking about game servers.

Seriously, the only issue I ever get is a very, very rare random "The chat has gone offline" only for it to be online again in literally 2 seconds.

This is great news. The sooner companies like EA, Valve, Ubisoft, Activison go belly up, the better off we all are.

There's a difference between steam chat going down and it affecting it your game play and you noticing. Anyone who says "once" or "a few" isn't on chat enough to see if goes down multiple times a week at different hours, and it's a massively spread problem that affects EVERYONE. Just because you're not on chat enough to see it doesn't mean it didn't happen people.

So yes all of you who say that it hasn't affected you might be right and you've been lotto lucky, but otherwise steam chat goes down multiple times a week and that's the norm. The length can be very short or in a rare few cases much longer but it's always fixed so I don't really care too much.

I have no issue with it as that's why we also have Vent,TS, mumble, skype, ect so if you only have your steam friends on one service clearly their not good enough friends to have on at least one other service. I know we all like to have everything centralized in one place but stuff happens, so when steam chat goes down I can still pester my friends on the different services. biggrin.gif

I don't hate EA, but MOH:W really sucked. All military shooters are the same, its been done to death, find something new.

And that form of English the rest of the countries use is British English, rofl. British English is my native version but I still get annoyed by all the incessant whinging and lame jabs made towards American English. In this case, honor or honour came from the Latin word honos, but nevermind forget about that America is totally wrong guise.

EA sucks because they don't really care about the artistic quality of their games, which is why the head honcho is a businessman and not a gamer. Origin and Steam are DRM.
