i7 3770k 4.5GHz vtt 1.42V - Page 2

I have been grappling alot lately with that 0x0124 bsod error and have been pains takingly and patiently observing how my system is behaving at various settings since this 0x0124 was beginning to drive me crazy. I actually don't need that much vcore for 4.5Ghz but when I get into 4.6Ghz region going up I must get that bsod 0x0124 no matter what. Now I decided to test various ram profiles with X.M.P profile as should be, custom X.M.P profile and disabled and realized the system was trying to tell me that it requires vtt to operate in standard X.M.P profile and imc less 0.005v for that so that if your rams are rated 1.65v at 1600Mhz you will be stable, thats how I was able to cross the 4.5Ghz barrier. Funny thing is when am at 4.5Ghz, I'm able to dictate what ram voltage I want the rams to be at so that I am stable which is 1.5v, but above that vtt should be quite up there anything towards 1.2v and not forgetting that that the imc should be 0.005v behind it and ddr voltage set to 1.65v.

So your overclock is highly likely that it is ram related not so much the chip.

I had the same issue with my overclock I have the vcore at 1.28v for 4.7ghz and the vtt at a staggering 1.35v (which solved the 124 blue screen with 8gb at 2400mhz). I know the vtt is WAY to high but my reasoning is that the max safe voltage of 1.2v didn't allow the ram to even operate at 1600mhz (which is quite a mild overclock); the memory controller on the chip is clearly crap so there's not much to degrade so I just went all out. What's strange is when I increased the imc voltage to conform to the 0.005v rule it would increase the instability of the system so I leave it on auto for gigabyte to deal with lol. Btw I am really new here so I don't mean to high jack the thread or anything with my problems.

So in short I agree its definitely a ram issue, probably due to a weak imc (it was for me and is probably for the OP)
