So maybe I was a victim of early adoption? Where now the newer owners are not having issues, because for the most part, they've started to be resolved?

Because my issues are with the time that things have taken to get fixed, not really extreme issues I am having now.

Never had a single problem when I had two 4870's in CF, I suspect a lot of user error or faulty hardware in most cases. Even with my Bro's 7770, AMD drivers have been nothing more then rock stable. My buddy still rocks his 4870x2 without a problem ether. Even though its not 7970 CF, I have seen a good deal of people run 7970 CF perfectly fine.

OP are you using the latest beta drivers? Or even try your CF on a fresh install of windows?
First off I would do a totally get rid of your graphic drivers, and I mean fully. And install the newest beta
Also make sure you disable ULPS.

Also if your really using your TV for your main monitor and you also have your computer looping though the receiver make sure you check your HDMI cables. I would use thick HDMI cables, not cheap thin ones. I had a problem like you with my TV flickering like that, but not because of software but the cables would lose the secure connection and flicker for a quick second. Using good cables between the TV receiver and PC are a must. If anything your probably having a problem with that. Onkyo receivers have always been picky about keeping a solid secure connection with PC's, I would also check possible firmware upgrades for that as well. EDIT

Been there, done that... nothing you can suggest that I have not tried. I have done home theater installations and calibrations, so I know a thing or two about cables and HT set ups. But to answer your suggestion about the cables... been there done that. smile.gif

Hello mate, I got your PM.I looked at your OP and it sounds like you have had a crap time. I went through similair stuff like this in the past. The only thing that I am sick of at the moment is the lack of dual card suuport in the games that I like to play. Amd are more bothered about optizing games that nobody is that bothered about such as nexuiz and fire fall. I have been very dissapointed with far cry 3. Now, when I apply the bioshock profile to fix the scaling, the drivers crash and the pc will not get back into windows without a lot of hassle.

Oddly enough, the only ATI card I've ever owned and used extensively was an HD4200 and an HD5850. The HD4200 wasn't half bad; overclocked it to be able to run STALKER on medium low settings fluently. Since my HD5850 was an HIS, it had a wonderful cooler but they never gave me voltage controls. That was my only problem with the card. ATI's software isn't half bad, but I do prefer the layout of Nvidia's control panel moreso then AMD's. The problems aren't the cards; they are well engineered. The only issues seem to come from the software side of things.

My next ATI card is in the form of an APU, so I don't know how that is going to pan out. Hopefully I get good experiences. So far, it's much better then Intel's integrated cards in terms of support and acceleration codecs by the looks of it. Can't wait; the laptop should be coming in today.

Tell you what! I'm fed up with the issues I'm having!

Annoyed is not the word for it! Card not returning to idle 0.850V instead stay at 0.950V idle, and then Zerocore? What a joke! Doesn't even work, fans spin even when my screen auto's off!

I have 2 7870 and I would equate happiness like this

Performance - 100% happy
Reliability - 50% happy

Reliability due to intermittent driver issues on various versions, idle black screens, grey screen with lines etc etc.
I got my 7950 Club-3d RoyalKing about 1.5 months ago and have had no real issues with it. Even running stock most of the time and the frames are great. The Max OC I was able to get with the card was 1150/1375 @ 1.25v I wish I could reach 1200 at that voltage.... hell even at more voltage as the temps are fine @ 55°C

but... no problems :-) but i really only play 3 games... lol BF3, Arma2, and.... ok well... I guess only 2 tongue.gif

Edit: Now that I thought about it a little more... I did have an issue with the last beta drivers 12.11(first ATI drivers installed). Which was the sleep of death... basically when the monitor went to standby and would not wake anymore, well until i hard-reset the PC anyway.

With the new drivers I have yet to test this.

On may 2nd, 2009, my beautiful 8600 gt was burnt alive thanks to nvidia drivers which forced the card not to use its fans in demanding games. I was not given a refund.

I then had. 5850 that had some hdmi audio problems. I accidentally bent one of the fan blades in the dual fan gigabyte non-ref card. It still ran well, but it made an annoying noise I couldn't stand.

On April 2nd, 2012, I upgraded to the 7850, sapphire. I have experienced a few graphical glitches, but none as bad as previous ati cards. With the latest Amd drivers I'm seeing more problems than ever before, I'm really dissapointed in that, but at least my card did not burst Into flames.
