I have never had issues with ATI/AMD. My first high end card was a X800 XT Platinum Edition purchased in 2005. I only stopped using it about 2 years ago since the aftermarket HSF bearing went out and I could not find a replacement. I've been using both ATI and nVidia for years with no issues.

I had been using a more modern 6950 2GB without issue until I acquired a nVidia 660 OEM last month. My brother is seriously eyeing up the 79xx series to replace his 560.

Love them, my 7970 CF runs great, never much trouble at all and I change drivers often.

Had 5850 CF before the 7970 CF and before that had Nvidia cards for about 10 years, ranging from the GF 2 to the 8800GTS sli.

I've used 7970 CF, 7950 CF and I am now on 7870 CF and out of the lot I had 1 card (Asus 7870 DC2 V2) that gave issues out of the box and it was swapped for a new one the same day, no issues at all after that.

On the other hand I have had a Gigabyte GTX680 give me tons of issues, After 3 rma's I took a credit from the store and bought 2x 660ti's, they ran perfectly fine. Then got 2x Evga GTX670 FTW, 1 card gave me endless issues again, 3 rma's later took credit again.

What I have noticed though, guys with issues are also the guys clocking the living **** out of their cards thumb.gif

You'll get 1 or 2 bad cards and sometimes if your unlucky like I am you'll be stuck with a couple that give endless issues.
Such is life, def not worth complaining over.

How many of you have issues with Far Cry 3 and have a 79xx crossfire set up?

For me it's basically unplayable. I get massive stuttering and it's a known issue... but again, even after a few months passing by and the game being AMD sponsored. There's been no fixes.

I have been using a XFX HD 6950 2GB for 2 years now. I had a few issues only with Rage which took awhile to get a working driver. I have a very good experience with the card. I played many games over the last 2 years. no major issues. In recent times Farcry 3 was smooth. I ran without MSAA because i wanted fps above 40. everything else was maxed out. Ultra settings, HDAO, enhanced A2C. hitman absolution, sleeping dogs were playable at max settings. I just had to either run without anti aliasing (Hitman) or run at lower AA (sleeping dogs with high aa).

I do believe AMD CF can get incredibly frustrating at times. because when it works it does very well (BF3) or it just plain sucks.

So in this case, AMD is doing a fine job for them.

Another thing, is that they normally don't buy new releases, so are not as exposed to the issues that many others face. Follow my trail of thought here?

I don't tend to play alot of the latest games, I do however occasionaly splurge on a new one here and there, I didn't have many issues with rage though i heard it was a major fail on AMD's half i do however play the following

Bf3
Crysis 3 beta(It's kinda fun but my desktop is down so only playing on my laptop with a 6990m wich has also not given me issues)
Bioshock
Fus roh dah aka skyrim
World of warcraft
Rift

Signifigant amount of Wow by the way, I did buy Me3 on launch and Mist of pandaria when it came out (Which had a few issues with Nvidia gpu's but was fixed within a day).

I would amount my lack of problems is my lack of fiddling with the drivers while i understand people like to fiddle especialy with enthusiast grade hardware, I tend to leave things alone unless absolutely nessicary after my overclock, I also don't update to the latest driver on launch, Up until 13.1 i had the stock 7970 drivers the entire time, Sorry for the late reply was a bit busy and didn't get email notified.

Had 2 x 5770 and 1 x 6950 2gb ref, sold all three, however, they've all been great cards and did what I needed them to do. I believe I had a slight graphical glitch in SWTOR with the 6950 that the GTX 670 didn't but other than that one instance they were great and I'm always usually leaning towards to Nvidia unless their performance vs cost isn't really there in the latest gen of cards. I've heard more hooblah about the 7xxx cards being "picky" as compared to older gens however.

I tend to go for whoever gives me the most performance for my dollar and in australia sadly, AMD stomps Nvidia for price/performance for referance the 680 on launch was over a thousand, The 690 was 2,000 and is now sitting at 1300 average, The 7970 on launch was 500 bucks.. and is like 400 now while the 680 is 600

I've been using ATI/AMD cards for 13 years now and I have never run into any issues with any of their drivers. I really don't get why people are having issues, sounds like a huge case of PEBKAC.

Perhaps it is, Perhaps at times it's a genuine problem i tend to run into unique problems elsewhere in my setup that sometimes don't make sense
